Thanks for the comments, all interesting and constructive. I will experiment with a crop to see if I can improve the feel of the shot. When I took the shot I wanted to get the effect of looking in the foreground and seeing the background so that the parade of brolleys could be seen.

What I really like about this shot is not the technical aspects (I agree with the comments above about these), but the story that is being told within this theme. Take away the signs in the background and you have a scene from almost any developed country in the world. I like the idea of the common touch of getting about in the rain using umbrellas. I also love the different postures etc of all the folk that can be seen (yes, particularly that lady on the left). Well done.

I love her pose (and I agree with Susie..OUCH).
However, the halo and brightness of her skin near the black areas takes away from what could be an amazing photograph.
Either too much processing up there, or not the right background.

I like this shot a lot, particularly the fact that you have looked "in" and made subjects of the people when they are all looking "out" seeing a subject elsewhere. The cut off bloke doesn't bother me because it suggests that there is more of the same gong on outside this frame. Great tones too, well done.

I agree this works well in B&W and is a great people shot. As for loosing the man on the left, I think you would have also lost the guy above him. This would have spoilt the 'buzy' nature of the shot.

Lovely contrasts, works great in b&w.

Great capture - the man on the far left is an unnecessary distraction, however, and takes away from a great shot.

I really love the light at the top. I feel it gives this desperate place a bit of hope. Great shadows too.

For me, this photo conveys tension like I'm heading down a dark alley with my senses highly alert. Feels like someone is in the shadows waiting to jump me. Great mood & composition!
