good barn find. It seems a little... overexposed maybe? I would probabaly crop out most of the sky and darken the image some.

trphoto (Tony Rath) added a critique 11 months ago:

Nice old barn. I think it could have been worked more. Not the nicest angle, sky is a little washed out. Looks like there would be a lot to experiment with around this structure, and the lighting would have been nice for textures on the wood.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 8 months ago:

Exposure isn't the best - the washed out sky doesn't help the subject to pop - kind of static composition that doesn't do much for the viewer. Nice subject.

Jon

Nice action capture. Would like to see from a little lower angle.

CodeRed (Cody Redmon) added a critique 11 months ago:

Way cute, the stretch of the duck. I think lower might have been nice, but you would see less of the little fellow's leg sticking out the back, which is a key part of the photograph. A little clockwise on the subject would help, but I like the way it is. A touch of saturation would warm things up, but still quite pleasant. Thanks, Sonoma.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 8 months ago:

The best thing about this photo is the exquisite soft texture you have captured - very lovely.

Best,
Jon

I think the colors are very vibrant. I agree with the above comment in regards to the white in the background. Maybe it could be blended out. Otherwise, very well taken.

Its good as it is with me, superb

I love this one. Great colors and clarity. I don't mind the white pole.

Sonoma said 11 months ago:

Thank you.

Great colors and light! Super composition. The details are wonderful. The pole in the background adds nothing helpful in my view.

Best,
Jon

Interesting habitat shot, but the bird is a little contrasty, and would be nice to have the head or eyes visible. Possibly a polarizer would have made the water less reflective.

CodeRed (Cody Redmon) added a critique 11 months ago:

I like the play that comes in visually with the duck's leg. It wants to mimic the bill, but just can't quite... Nice work. I think the ripples are nice to the left, but I might have given them up for a little more balance. The duck's head is so close to the center that I keep fighting against it visually. I still like the shot though, thanks for sharing.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 8 months ago:

A little overexposed and so the colors just miss being great - they aren't bad, but could have been much better. You might have tried opening up the aperture to deal with a messy background.

Regards,
Jon

turkana (César) added a critique 11 months ago:

The subject is very sharp. Good definition. That`s like me. The light on him create volume
But the final result don`t like me completle because several things. I think that the horizont is a little inclined and the B&W conversion hasn't been quite fine. There are no textures in the water.
I like to see the end of the sharp in the ground and, other wise, I'd change the composition with the principal subject in the right side.

Greeting!!

trphoto (Tony Rath) added a critique 11 months ago:

Interesting shot. The horizon could be straight, the subject in the middle doesn't excite me. The tonal qual8ity is excellent.

chiara (Chiara Carrara) added a critique 11 months ago:

I think I would try and work a little with the contrast of the backgrouns. Seems a bit flat.

CyberCarsten (Carsten) added a critique 11 months ago:

What I like about your pic is that the person has highest contrast levels, so my eye wanders to the subject. But there is not enough other interesting things in the pic to please me (yet).

An idea might be to work on the B&W conversion and to keep the light on the person, while the sea gets darker (and maybe gets more texture?).

A sraight horizon might be a good idea as well. And the person is a little bit too close to the center of the image, I think.

Happy shooting!

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 8 months ago:

The subject isn't strong enough to pull this one out. The light isn't particularly exciting - not terrible - not great. The comp. is kind of boring with the subject too centered.

Best,
Jon

A barn for sure, but more modern looking than most, that's not a critique, just an observation. My critique is the image feels tilted, even though by the horizontal of the barn it is not. The lens distortion makes it feel off. Do you use photoshop?? The lens distortion correction there is pretty good and easy to use. The silo's are the cuoprits.

GLJ00 (Gary Jagours) added a critique 11 months ago:

Nice composition and colors. I like the feel of the photo.

Eye_See added a critique 11 months ago:

I'm sure that this is an old barn; it's just had steel or aluminum siding put over the old plank board. The smaller stone buildings in the foreground are quite interesting. The three verticle components are a nice contrast to the horisontal lines in the barn. The lighting is somewhat flat. Picture may be better when taken at a different time of day.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 8 months ago:

The lighting isn't great - not bad, though. I love the cows - even though they are slightly tilted!

Best,
Jon

I love the composition and the textures...looks like a painting to me. Well done!

C_Holbrook (Christina Holbrook) added a critique 10 months ago:

I'm a little chicken-hearted when it comes to snakes so if this were my shot it definitely wouldn't have been under the category of "pets!" - kudos to you! :)
I do agree with the comment about the bottom crop; I also agree with the comment of the contrast between subject and surroundings. Nicely done.

Ladybug (Lisa Ruokis) added a critique 9 months ago:

Is this really a pet? My only criticism is that it may not be appropriate for the theme. This looks like it was taken in a forest or a zoo. Otherwise it's a beautiful shot.

Sonoma said 9 months ago:

Well, it isn't MY pet, but it is someone's. Thanks all.

Ladybug (Lisa Ruokis) added a critique 9 months ago:

I stand corrected! What a nice environment and a beautiful snake (as well as a stunning shot)!

boyd added a critique 9 months ago:

The colour of this flower is excellent, and well set off by the dark green background. The centre of the flower is a little softer than I would prefer (but only a very little) and the reflections in the water on the petals is a little blown out and distracting (but again, only a little). Nice shot in this topic.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

Wow - it really pops! I like the light and comp. although the little yellow flower in the background distracts to some extent.

Best,
Jon

mikeock (Mike Adams) added a critique 9 months ago:

Very nice.
I like the droplets of water that are slowly rolling off of this!
Great job of the separation of the background and the main subject!

sebrundage (Stephen B) added a critique 9 months ago:

Overall, this is nice, but I think perhaps a tighter crop - to remove the flower in the top right - would help. I was also distracted by the reflections of the water on the petals. I think a tighter crop would also accentuate the sharp detail of the center of the flower.

KerriDoodle (Kerri) added a critique 10 months ago:

He is indeed green! I would try get the blue tint out of the white on his chest, and take away the flash shine on his eyes and nose. The healing brush tool in photoshop works wonders for shiny spots, especially those you get on shiny faces.

Also, maybe clone some of the lights out from the ceiling. Great crop and focus!
