Good choice for a square format, Pradeep. Very pretty light - so delicate - well done. The comp. is nice - did you have a difficult time with the crop on this one - just curious...
Best,
Jon

Oh my ~ such a stunning capture. It's as if it's looking into your soul. I like the treatment you gave this, too.
Pradeep (Pradeep P) said 3 months ago:
Thank you Mikhail and Lisa, glad you like this shot. One of my favs too :)
Mikhail, I was around 10-15 meters from its herd when i took this.

I see what you mean Clyde, in fact I have the very same capture you are talking about; this was shot before I set the scene. But I wanted an objective opinion on this before I post the other one. Thanks a lot :)
redcat77 (Agnes Milosz) added a critique 4 months ago:
well... I like it as is. For me the black border on the left creates balance to the candle which is more on the right side, and the bottle of perfume...hmmm... maybe it is just my imagination but it creates very "sexy" atmosphere ;) What I like the most are the lines in the candleholder and the blurry lines in the window - just love it!
Pradeep (Pradeep P) said 4 months ago:
Yeah redcat, thats what I was gunning for, the lines in the candle and the blurry lines in the window. And I am glad you like this one as it is. Thanks for stopping by. :)

Bottom line - what is this about?

I can see how some might or might not like the composition here Pradeep (the placement of the bottle in particular). What I really like more than anything else is the quality of light that you have captured here and the fact that you saw so much potential in this subject and pulled off a very classy image. Well done.

@Clyde - Yeah, too bad about the glass, this particular lizard lives in that part of the building, will get him one day :) I have posted a boosted version of the same pic here - neutralgrey.aminus3.com/image/2008-04-15.html , is this what you had in mind?

congrats on the feature :)
the framing is unusual and therefore very good.
as for the impact, I agree with beamer's suggestion.

I guess I don't understand the comments about the noise. I love this shot. Its like one of those types of photos that fit nicely in a "posh" style frame and belongs in a set (of 2 or 3 photos) on a nice sitting room wall.
I love how the match stick fades into nothing. I just love it.
Pradeep (Pradeep P) said 8 months ago:
Thank you Karrie. I have got a set of images like these, will post them together one day.

great shot...!
i'm nitpicking, but if it was just a BIT sharper it would have been amazing.
Pradeep (Pradeep P) said 7 months ago:
Thanks a lot Shiv. Yeah I understand what you mean abt the sharpness...thanks :)

it's a great portrait, but i think it's a little bit to dark. the eyes are very significant.
Pradeep (Pradeep P) said 8 months ago:
Thank you Thomas, yes it was shot in very low light.

The rim lighting here is very nice. I wish the leaf was a bit sharper. The center of DoF seems to be on the lower leaf which is farther out than the main leaf.
Pradeep (Pradeep P) said 7 months ago:
Clyde, the center of the leaf is in focus too, but I guess its texture coupled with the noise I added makes it look unfocused. Also the leaves had a light coating of dust on it.
jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 7 months ago:
Pradeep,
The noise isn't an issue for me, but it really appears just a little too soft in regards to the focus. That having been said, it's a beautiful composition.
Best,
Jon
Pradeep (Pradeep P) said 7 months ago:
Hmm...since both of you agree that the focus is soft, lemme see if I can work on it.
Thanks for the critique guys, really appreciate.
Cheers :)
CouCou33 (Ingrid) added a critique 7 months ago:
I have to agree with Clyde and Jon, the central leave seams a little out of focus to me too. but that said, I really like the composition, the lighting and the dof. the noise is also a very nice touch that gives a little ancient touch to the scene... nicely done :-)

Excellent! I bet some criticism will be forthcoming regarding the blue in the upper right corner. For me, it gives this photo something special - it's almost a spiritual quality - well done!
Best,
Jon
Pradeep (Pradeep P) said 7 months ago:
My thoughts too Jon, thats why I made the other version. But I couldnt decide between the two, just wanted to see what everybody else thinks. Am really glad that you see something special in it, Thanks :)
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 7 months ago:
I prefer the warmer coloring. What I would suggest is to crop left and bottom to loose the partial window panes that distract, IMO.
smucha (shannon mucha) added a critique 7 months ago:
This has such a lovely, mysterious feel to it. Well done!
willie_901 (william) added a critique 7 months ago:
I like the color in the other version a bit more.
In naturally lit scenes there is often a variation in color. After all the blue could be from the sky.
I would crop an L shape from the left and bottom, leaving just enough black to frame the scene.
This does give the special look to it. I think it's timeless.

This texture is great! Any way to burn some detail into the top left and bottom right corner?
Pradeep (Pradeep P) said 7 months ago:
Thanks Heather, Detail in the blown out areas will make the shot very ordinary, I had blown them out to get this effect :)
Thanks Pixim and Ana for the fav, much appreciated :)
