I'm not sure about the noise... but I like your use of DOF on this!

Thanks very much for your comments!
@gregcsmith:
the picture has a subject!
Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:
Sorry but I'm agree with Greg, where's the flower ??
Anyway good PP indeed ;-)
joka (Johannes Kapp) said 1 year ago:
Sorry, I overlooked that this topic needs a bloomy flower.

Thanks Paul and Eric! (The more I look at it, the more I think it needs to be straightened.)
byutanner (Jason Tanner) added a critique 1 year ago:
Sher, I don't think it needs straightening , well it doesn't hurt the photo. I really like this. You did a great job making it look old.
chasewhittemore (Chase Whittemore) added a critique 1 year ago:
Maybe printing it out on an old printer and scanning back in would help with your gaols. Still this is a great image!
Sher (Sher Hilliard) said 1 year ago:
Thanks Jason. Chase - I am going to try your suggestion, thanks!

Well spotted . This could look dull but the framing and theme works great . Nice shot
Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:
Its look unbalanced for me but still a good shot indeed Christophe

Thanks for your comment, Eyeseethings (well seen !)

I like this texture :) I would have added more contrast and would give the colors some boost, but it's already nice :)
joka (Johannes Kapp) added a critique 1 year ago:
fine idea, good concept and composition (only the balance needs a bit more attention, I think, and the colours could be a bit stronger)

I like the colors in the background and the sharp details, nice DOF :)
bulletproofheeb (Adam) added a critique 1 year ago:
The DOF here is nice. With shots like this i find that zooming in on a small protion and blowing the colours out with supersaturation can give a really abstact swing to it. Conversely, you can leave it pulled back and simplify with a greyscale but i like the colours here too much to recommend that.
caryscott (Cary Scott) added a critique 1 year ago:
I've been squinting trying to figure out what's in the background and I now have a headache---thanks a lot : ) Nice DOF and nice colors.
bbonner (Bonner Photographic) added a critique 1 year ago:
I like images like this. Wonderful colors in the background all blended together. Very nice. I don't care for the softness around the edges.

I think this photo is great and fits very well into the topic. I say its worth being featured.

KidJim (Jean Marc Veliscek) added a critique 1 year ago:
i like the kind of "Cross" effect - make this image very effective - nice post-processing (color and textures) and framing (sorry I have *no* negative point here to add :)
veronicalynne (veronica lynne) added a critique 1 year ago:
I like the lighting. Great time of day. Unlike the others, I would have preferred a little less DOF, emphasizing the rust just a tad more. I do however, like the lefthand corner blur of colors.
Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:
Like Veronica said maybe less DOF, but really nice indeed

Perfect for the theme. I think the image should be brighter. Seems very dark.

Love it! Good work! Great texture, though it wouldn't hurt if it was a little more pronounced.
boughey (Adrian Boughey) added a critique 1 year ago:
As already mentioned there's not enough texture to hold my eye. It fits the topic, but I'm not sure it's an image I would revisit. Sorry. Have you tried this as a b&w? You should get some very high contrasts and be able to bring the texture out more with a little dodging and burning.
joka (Johannes Kapp) added a critique 1 year ago:
excellent work! compliments!
(for me a little bit more texture wouldn`t be bad, but perhaps only for me)

Sher (Sher Hilliard) added a critique 1 year ago:
I would like to see an example of this photo with one window section cropped off the right side of the photo (trees). I get the idea, as this woman is looking off to the left, that she is watching for someone in a car who might be coming to pick her up. Cropping the trees a bit would convey the thought of her "watching" more and to me, give more "feeling" to the photo. That said, this is a fantastic photo. I think it is fine as it is as well, it just depends on the "message" you wish for it to convey.
christo added a critique 1 year ago:
John, this is a wonderful capture.
It does not particularly convey the feeling of solitude IMO. I rather see it as a picture of many contrasts: organic vs. synthetic, assymmetry vs. symmetry, etc.
I also see a human being torn between those two worlds.
A wonderful photograph I wish I had taken!
soyrosa added a critique 1 year ago:
I don't have to say I like the picture :) It's beautiful. Should you crop this? I don't know. I understand why some people say it, but I really like her being centered.
Though, you _could_ cut of the black bar on top of the picture. That would make the picture more panoramic, which could strengthen the idea of her being all alone in that building.
zenith9 (Bob and Jeannie) added a critique 1 year ago:
Beautiful framing. I think her position works very well - perhaps it might be better if she were off to the left but i think then you would lose some of the balance in the picture.

I love the soft look on the face... Nice!
Where is the flower. The picture is really lacking a subject. The processing is interesting, but maybe a bit grainy.
