I agree with what was said, I especially like to use of negative space and the gradual shift from warm to cold (left to right). Nicely done.
msdedi (Linda) added a critique 1 year ago:
very well done, nice texture, framing, and color
Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:
Very nice colors, like Sylvain featured very soon for sure ;-)
Jordan (Jordan Young) added a critique 1 year ago:
Very interesting, i can't really think of anything to change. Maybe it would look better with the blinds up? The same shot at night time also might be interesting.
I think you have a good shot here though.

from what I can tell the shot looks great, but with the added border being so large it is hard to tell. The border of the image and the text are distracting for a critique.
byutanner (Jason Tanner) added a critique 1 year ago:
I'd have to agree with Johnny. The border to picture ratio is way out of balance. I think the subject is great.
Sher (Sher Hilliard) added a critique 1 year ago:
I also agree with the border being to large - my eye is drawn to the caption and border first. I would love to see more detail of the actual building. Great subject.
Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:
+1 for the boder but still a good one indeed ;-)
chefron (Ron Ernst) added a critique 1 year ago:
If this was a poster in a galery I would like the border, however its not a poster and the border is a smig distraction.

Yeah - this is great. Love the wetness of the blacks here.

contrast of the black is superb

Nice, nice. I'm into that darkness.

There is no sign of decay or a real sense of being urban.
This might do better in a different catagory. Maybe low light?
Nice shot, anyway.

I like the shot (very much) but I feel I would have liked it even more in 100% black and white .
Jenseye (Jen) added a critique 1 year ago:
Very spooky...I like it! I also like it in color!
luminance added a critique 1 year ago:
In general, I'm not such a huge fan of selective coloring (personally find it a little gimmicky and dated). But I could see how it might work given the context of illustrating a story.
I love your b&w conversion of the rest of the shot though!
Laurie (Laurie) said 1 year ago:
luminance...the re-saturation of the shot was actually an accident. I clicked on something, I don't know what, and some of the color returned. I liked it though. It was actually an "illustration" I planned on using for a short story I wrote last year. I tried to repeat it on another shot with less success.

Very nice...the tones are really wonderful

I really like the clouds. I wonder what the water would look like with a slower shutter speed, but it looks really good with the texture on the water too. Just a thought.

oooo this is really nice. i love your choice to sepia-tone :P
Phoenix (Urvashi R) added a critique 1 year ago:
Nice composition. But I wonder if it could be sharpened a bit, with more contrast.

I'm agree with u Sher but still nothing special in ur shot....:(
Sher (Sher Hilliard) said 1 year ago:
Sorry you feel that way Pi-Production. Could you offer some constructive criticism then?
Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:
Hi Sher,
So for ur pic as u said :
"Not cropped" - For this we can do nothing (from the original).
"No work done in Photoshop" - For this we can change the colors of the sky like "gradient" and if it's me I want to see the "blue" of ur sky ;)
Cheers.Eric
Sher (Sher Hilliard) said 1 year ago:
Eric..How do I do "gradient" work?
Did (Didier Toulouze) added a critique 1 year ago:
I'm not agree, I think this is a good idea to put only a thin peace of land. Add more land will not add anything to the picture but an useless black area, we don't need to see it as we can easily imagine it.
The shape and the color of the clouds are great.
(how did you put the picture in two topics ?)

Caryscott--thanks! It surprised me that I captured the candle light because I was hoping I could at least capture the flame but I actually like the candle light effect better.

Great image. I guess it doesn't give me a solitude feeling, but great image.
Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:
Like Jason, but I really like it !!
Agresticguy said 1 year ago:
Thanks. You both have a point about it not invoking a feeling of solitude. At the time I posted this photo I took the topic "Solitude" to me a representation of solitude. To me the photo represents solitude but, you're right, it doesn't invoke a feeling of solitude. Thanks again for the comments.

Wonderful shot.
I agree with the above comments that more of the building would really enhance this shot.
wonderful post processing job!
Very nice picture ! I really like colors and the back light on the windows and the lamp is great. For me it could be featured !
