fantastic colors! I love the tones and the clouds are just great! Thanks for the invite by the way, I did post one in the long exposure category. Big surprise there huh!

jangetagrip (jan) said 1 year ago:

i love how the sun lights up the edges of the clouds, the colour is beautiful!

What a beautiful tombstone. Very fitting for the person it honors.

forgingahead (Bob Foss) said 1 year ago:

Styles of stones are fun to observe. I noted a bunch of these cut-down tree stones in a local cemetery last week. Interesting to see one used for a person of such stature.

Blumie (Sabine) said 1 year ago:

I am so proud and happy - thanks to everybody who voted for this. And thanks you too for your nice words.

Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) said 1 year ago:

Hi Sabine,
Really nice tombstone,I'm post-processed photograph and I think the "cut-out" is not perfect as u can see on the differents part of the edge.Cheers Eric

Thank you all for the critiques. This is a photo I digitized using a flatbed scanner which I have never done before. I believe that added to the softness. Any tips on how to sharpen using a scanner will be welcomed.

mrsankey (Andrew Sankey) added a critique 1 year ago:

I agree with the above about the image quality. Another thing is that the sky is really blown out (which might be a scanner problem as well). I'm not sure how to fix problems with a scanner since I don't really work much with them, but I'm sure you could sharpen it in photoshop a little bit.

mrsankey (Andrew Sankey) added a critique 1 year ago:

I forgot to add, besides the image quality the shot is great. Beautiful reflection and nice framing.

chromaticmelody (Dhiren Bhatia) added a critique 1 year ago:

Great shot, Yellow stands out really well. If its accessible still, I would go out with a tripod and re shoot, and perhaps try to get the surroundings involved more? I would like to see whats around this. Nice reflection as well.

Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:

It's perfect reflection, I want to see in good quality ;)

I'd try different composition moving frame a bit down.

guffy (Stefan Karlstrom) added a critique 1 year ago:

A little bit too plain. Looks like an average sky.

kyla (Kyla) added a critique 1 year ago:

Unfortunately the plane nor the setting sun does not do enough to captivate. It needs more punch. There is too much blue space and the clouds are too wispy. Although I am a fan of minimalism I don't find this fits into that category either.

cheguillaume (Pierre-Yves cheguillaume) added a critique 1 year ago:

I agree with kyla maybe it could fit in minimalism. But it's my personal point of view.

Effectivement, il est probable que cela soit plus du ressort du minimalisme que du topic skyscape. C'est un point de vue personnel.

Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:

Un peu trop commun à mon goût ;)

Marco (Marc-Antoine VACHON) added a critique 1 year ago:

Too much blue sky and not enough clouds for me.
Nothing really interresting in this picture.

no - it isn't a classic game scenario that i chose. could explore that too.

Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like this game, maybe in "vintage" it will be better ;)

spherop (Daniel Newman) said 1 year ago:

Hmm ... good point ...can it be switched?

Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:

Yes I think so spherop ;)

iko (Olivier Petit) added a critique 1 year ago:

It's really working well for this theme I think. This picture is about light and shadow in more way than just the obvious one with this game of black and white.
Really like the texture and the dof.

That's a great subject for a photograph, but I don't like the perspective/composition too much.

Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:

Well done Sylvain ;)

dcrphotography (Daniel) added a critique 1 year ago:

The water aspect is nice, but I find the street lights and greenery (at left) detract from the image.

pavankvn said 1 year ago:

Thanks you all for the comments. It was one of my very first shots. The image was straight out of camera, no PP what so ever (except resizing for web).

blolive added a critique 1 year ago:

Nice water effects. My eye tends to go to the upper right hand corner where the light is, and that is not the best part of the picture!

pavankvn said 1 year ago:

Thank you!

bbonner (Bonner Photographic) added a critique 1 year ago:

Interesting shot. I think you could improve it by cropping the the image to only include the waterfalls on the right side of the screen. Remove the plant and the streetlight distractions. You would have a much more dramatic image.

+1 It would be better I think ;)

kadenajack (Jack) added a critique 1 year ago:

I agree with Paul. Though this is clearly taken in a cemetery, the focus is dead center on the soldiers, not the graves. Had you included them in the shot, but from a farther distance and maybe on the left with some lead room to the right, with more cemetery around them, then it would have fit better with the cemeteries theme.

kamaki (Christophe) added a critique 1 year ago:

I agree Paul too. It's a little bit blur for the soldiers.

aldamir (di Carlo Darsa sandro) added a critique 1 year ago:

Stop motion for sure. Very good composition. A bit more conrast maybe?

jaapv added a critique 1 year ago:

Exactly the right moment. Maybe if you cropped th lefthand side ofthe image, it would enhance the action.
