I find the subject of this image intriguing, as I am by most images from cultures that are different than my own. I keep going to the pinks things on the rack, wondering what they are. I'm not sure I really want to know! ;-)

This area also seems to be the focus of the image both in terms of the lighting and the clarity, which I think is unfortunate. The focus on the woman is too soft. I think this image could have been improved by composing a tighter frame on the woman and focusing on her eyes. Always focus on the eyes, unless you have good reason to do otherwise.

If you hold your hands up to frame the image, and cut off the colored things on the right, and then just beyond that rack of other things on the left, you will see a much different, and stronger image.

I'm also seeing some light flares, or something. There is a very prominent colored circle on the top row of the rack, and a couple bigger ones above and below that. One falls on the woman's face, which is also unfortunate, and may be contributing to the lack of focus in that area.

Still, it looks like a wonderful exotic location to be with a camera.

I agree with uncommon, this image suffers from too distant a subject. Tighter, more focused cropping can easily improve this issue as she said. I think you can even use the lense flare, if you put it up in the top-left corner of the crop, it can change from a distraction to something that enhances the composition.

What would thin s look like in black and white? The distraction for me is the things in the corner, but if they were a little blurry and not such a contrasting color I bet the subject and the background would stick out a lot better.

a worker at the fishmarket.
to the right, some slices of fish or whatever. in the back other fishes. so these elements are part of his/her work. sale and prepare.
to me, this image works as it is. so I know what the person in the front is doing and I don't have to ask my "wizard.crystal.info" :-))
