I think it is a wonderful photo. I'm not bothered by the DOF.

Reminds me of the famous National Geographic photo of the Afgan woman. Great feeling!

Gorgeous Capture. The lighting and depth of field are really well done.

boyd added a critique 11 months ago:

Agree with the other comments ... and I also think that the lighting of this subject is particularly flattering. You have also controlled it well to not blow out the young child's face, although her shirt might be a bit too exposed it is a small price to pay - well done.

CouCou33 (Ingrid) said 10 months ago:

Picture taken in Bangalore, India.

Thanks for the comments :-)

And I agree with you boyd. I was sad to see the T-shirt a tad blown out, but there was no other way to have her face lighten. It was the only light part of the picture....

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 10 months ago:

The pink catches the eye, yes, but then there is the release and you soon find the subject - well done!

Pradeep (Pradeep P) added a critique 8 months ago:

Beautiful shot. I find the pink a little distracting, not much, but it was the first thing i noticed. I guess a b&w version will bring out the subject more :)

Nice lighting on this one. Was it an off camera flash or natural light?

Onepixelshy (Mike) said 8 months ago:

Thanks for the comment! No flash was used on this picture. It was actually taken adjacent to a large sliding glass door. I post processed in lightroom. Thanks again

I like the composition of this photo. I think this photo would stand out a little more for me if it was in B&W. Other than that...Great Capture!

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 1 year ago:

I tried the B&W, didn't think it was as good...

I really like the lines in this picture. Next time, bring a small saw and take down that little tree in front..hehe. Good job!

koo88 added a critique 11 months ago:

I like the detail of the lines. Great rustic colors. Well done as usual.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

Love your use of blue in this shot. Super diagonals draw us in and keep us there. Very strong shot.

Best,
Jon

TheAntipodes (Menno van Zaanen) added a critique 1 year ago:

Nice sharp picture, quite static. Perhaps a little more space above the head would have been nice.

PhotoDaniels (Stephanie Daniels) added a critique 1 year ago:

Beautiful capture! I agree with the crop - the very tip top of her helmet is cut out of the frame - just a little more room there and I wouldn't feel like she's bumped her head. I can't see anything else I'd change! This is great!

Onepixelshy (Mike) added a critique 1 year ago:

Wow. Very nice and sharp photo. I agree with everyone else that the crop could use some work. Other than that great capture.

CouCou33 (Ingrid) added a critique 11 months ago:

Great shot !!
I don't really agree with the previous comment. I like the close framing as is.
but I would have used a lower aperture so that both the rider and the horse would have been as sharp.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

Strong shot - great expression on the rider - a little too centered.

Best,
Jon

KerriDoodle (Kerri) added a critique 1 year ago:

I think the focus on her eyes is perfect, her right eye being more in focus - it is very natural and I'm not feeling "forced" look at her eyes.

Even though her left eye is softer, the color of her iris is slightly more intense and pulls my gaze across her eyes, dare I say out to whatever it is she might be gazing at herself.

Very well done in my opinion, and what a beautiful little girl!

Onepixelshy (Mike) added a critique 1 year ago:

The color and lighting in this picture really stood out to me. Great capture. Could you provide some capture info (aperture, shutter, lens etc.)? Keep up the great work!

Pixim (Eric) said 1 year ago:

mikeock (Mike Adams) added a critique 1 year ago:

Very cool.
The composition of this is great.
I like the inclusion of the colors and the massive distance that they stretch across the image.
That one line is a bit distracting but that is not enough to ruin the image for me!

billbooz (Bill Booz) said 1 year ago:

This is great, folks, and thank you very much for the feedback! Hadn't thought of cropping the foreground grass, but now see what you all mean as I look at it with different eyes.

Laurie (Laurie) added a critique 1 year ago:

Sweet barn. I love barns.

The grass in the foreground doesn't bother me so much, maybe a bit less of it, but for me I think that the sky is so washed out that I would have framed it or cropped the sky out altogether.

I think that you could pull a little more contrast out of this as well.

There is a little something going on with the grass though. I am not sure what it is. It looks like a light, blurry smudge that runs from the center bottom and up toward the left lower area on the grass. Do you know what caused it? It almost looks like it could be some sort of reflection.

Onepixelshy (Mike) added a critique 1 year ago:

I think this picture has great potential. IMHO it might be a good idea to crop a a little of the sky out and move the barn to the left and down (rule of thirds sweet spot perhaps) and bump up the contrast. Or maybe a little selected saturation. Those are just some suggestions. Keep up the great work.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 9 months ago:

Very nice work - I agree with Laurie in regards to the sky, however. Beautiful piece of country!

Udower (Udo Weier) added a critique 1 year ago:

Very strong. A portrait without softness. Very expressive.

sunside (Markus Mayer) added a critique 1 year ago:

I'm not too happy with this soft look. It reminds me a bit of HDR photos with large halos or that effect you'll get when you superimpose (burn, screen, whatever) a gaussian sharpening filter with a large radius.
Somehow the sharpness at her eyes don't match the sharpness at her mouth; This, and the softness at her nose is distracting me, I think.

Blizzard (Beef Jerky) added a critique 1 year ago:

Excellent photograph!
Tones are right on.
The focus is where it needs to be, the eyes.
She is a very beautiful and strong subject.
Her face reminds me of the women seen in 18th century paintings.

Well done.

latekelem added a critique 1 year ago:

Very strong photo. I think you really captured the person with a very big statement on the reality that some of us never see. Nicely captured.

Onepixelshy (Mike) added a critique 1 year ago:

Great catch. It's pictures like these that make me want to take more street photographs.

Udower (Udo Weier) added a critique 1 year ago:

A great capture. A nice color contrast. Photos like these are very important.

very great capture
could be interesting to in b/w with less saturation and adjustment in level sligthly more ligth,

Bravo keep on

Sonoma added a critique 11 months ago:

It's possible that it might be a little more powerful in B&W. I like it. I appreciate these kinds of photos.

Bastian (Bastian Löhrer) added a critique 1 year ago:

Yeah... a bit more contrast would be sweet. Great composition!

mikeock (Mike Adams) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like the composition.
the colors and contrast remind me of a lomo shot.

Laurie (Laurie) added a critique 1 year ago:

It has an "old" feel to me. Like a 1960's photo.

What does the sign/banner say?

Onepixelshy (Mike) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like the composition. I'd recommend bumping up the contrast a little bit. Other than that, nice shot.
