I'm trying to take his picture for the photo boards at work and I'm probably telling him to sit still and stop laughing. It ended in fits of laughter and big giggles, but I did get a good 'official' portrait as well. This one sums him up, though!

How can one be a purist about how people laugh? Surely fun and laughter, i.e. emotion, is about more than having your eyes open?

Photography is full of experts who believe the rules should be followed and rarely broken.

I like that his eyes are closed because you truely caught him in a moment.

I like this almost candid shot of somebody laughing. The overall colours are quite toned down, but perhaps that makes the contrast with his skin greater. This puts even more focus on his face.

I like the minimalism of this. Nice DOF, too.

Very very very plain and basic. More boring than entertaining. I dont think you could do much to improve it, the subject is simply boring. Maybe try more creative angles.

Interesting composition. I wish the colors were a bit more contrasted and flashy (but that's a matter of taste). Also: did you try to "reverse" the blur? :O)

an orange shirt would make this shot even better! I like the idea of this a lot.

@philippe...The orange was really vivid so I toned it down a lot - this is more like its daylight colour. I did quite a lot of work on this picture and am happy to stay blurred in the background. Did you notice the look of concentration on my face whilst pressing the remote control in my hand? I'd only bought it that afternoon and spent hours experimenting!

@Ana...I used to have an orange shirt! Here I didn't really dress for the occasion, though.

I love how the city just disappears into the mist and light. Great shot.
