It is just a little too soft for me. Sharper focus and a bit more contrast would benefit this shot.
crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 11 months ago:
I love the minimalistic look, but I agree with JimiThing about the ant being a tad too much out of focus. Good composition though. Love the fact that the ant is headed towards the open space.

Nice textures, good comp. but a little soft overall, Geo. Thanks for sharing.
Best,

I agree with the above: needs more contrast and sharpness.

Silhouettes or shadows.
boyd added a critique 11 months ago:
I agree that this could probably be placed within "Shadows", but that doesn't detract from the fact that this is a very well conceived and executed shot. I love the framing generated by the spotlight and the detail that you have managed to capture within the light's beam. This is nicely set of by the canvas seams of the big top helping to give it all height.

thanks guys for your comment
thanks nick, your constructive critiq will certainly help me making better shot

The circus worked out well for you, I guess! Nice shot and well-framed. Thanks for sharing your work.
Best,
Jon
crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 11 months ago:
I just love the concept. Well executed in terms of composition. It's not easy to capture the silhouette of a moving subject in such a way that it's instantly recognizable, but you pulled it off perfectly. Very nice!

that is to cool!only thing I would have done to the shot would be to crop some of the bottom out.
oneeyedman (John Simpson) said 11 months ago:
the spirit of Golf...nice shot!Like the limited point of focus and the crop as it is.

Beach basketball. Love it!! And I really like the water and sky.
boyd added a critique 11 months ago:
Yes, I agree that this is a lovely shot. Composition and execution is very well handled (the detail in the net and is that a lifeguard tower behind? - wow!) to capture people going about their lives ... nice.

i really like this shot, you did a great job

La silueta del perro pasa, al principio, un poco desapercibida, quizá unos instantes después la habríamos contemplado totalmente; de todas formas la fotografía así es estupenda.Felicidades

Great silhouettes and so much interaction going-on between the characters. I like the colours. Great shot!!

it is a good angle but the picture would have more impact if you wouldve used a longer exposure.
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 11 months ago:
I agree. A longer exposure would be good. There isn't enough light to tell exactly what I'm looking at.
photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) said 11 months ago:
that day i only used a compact and i did not had the choice to change the speed of it
AnaGaztelu (Ana Gaztelu) added a critique 11 months ago:
Sabiendo la historia de la toma debo añadir que hay algo en la parte derecha abajo que corta el reflejo y distrae.

I like the reflection, but with for more detail on the other side of the water.

Interesting image, I like it - I like the engaging lines made by the path and continuation with open sky, really draws you in the image. The forest on both sides adds mystery.the b&w is fine.
I think Nick's recommendation regarding the crop is great !
like opening a wider door in your image..
pfeel (Phil Verges) added a critique 11 months ago:
I like it! B&W was definitely the right choice here, it makes much more graphic impact. And I agree with Nick, I would crop it higher also.
crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 11 months ago:
I agree with Nick with regard to the higher crop. If you crop it so the path appears to go on outside of the image it would be better.
Also try to clone out the little branch in the sky. With those two edits I think you would have a perfect image. The sky and the path complement each other perfectly. Good composition though and nice black and white conversion!

selaux (Sarah) added a critique 11 months ago:
i disagree with the crop idea. I think that letting me see the start of the path makes me even more curious to see where and how far it goes. I feel like its a metaphor for the start of a great journey and i dont know where it is taking me or how long it will last. B&W is very effective. Nice work.
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 11 months ago:
I agree with Nick too. The little bit of dirt at the bottom draws my eye out of the picture.
It might be interesting to crop it down so the horizon is in the middle of the photo. It would put more emphasis on the lines going to infinity.

Beautiful colors and lighting here - looks like a candidate for shot with a story... What's the story behind your shot?
Best,
Jon
jellybino (Robyn Shaw) said 11 months ago:
I came across this abandoned ship while vacationing in St. Maartin. I'm not really sure if it's tied down to anything or just floating there on its own. I would imagine that it's probably one of the many casualties of "Shipwreck Alley".
boyd added a critique 11 months ago:
I agree that this is nicely captured. It looks almost as if the skipper pulled it in on purpose. Colour and detail really invite the eye to wander the frame and take it all in, well done.
photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) added a critique 11 months ago:
i like this shot, great colour and lightning but the boat seems to be too much centered for me
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 11 months ago:
The composition doesn't grab me either. I could go for either something less centered or significantly tighter. Do you have the extra resolution to crop this down?

This seems to fit with a whole range of topics, particularly "I want to be there" - not sure it has had a run yet ;) ... I thought that the lack of swimmers was due to sharks lurking just below the surface. Top colours, nice composition showing great balance - well done.
TooMagic added a critique 11 months ago:
I like the colors but only from the bird to the left. To me, the real picture is the change in colors and reflections on the left as the aquamarine color captures my attention--but only when I put my hand over the right side of the photo. Cropping.
photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) added a critique 11 months ago:
i like the comp and colour but imo some parts of the clouds are over exposed (it's maybe my monitor)
crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 11 months ago:
The clouds look fine on my monitor to be honest. Quite a dramatic feel is you ask me. The only minor remark I have is that the horizon seems to be slanted towards the left a bit. Nice shot though, I like it.
Thomas
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 11 months ago:
I like it a lot. The clouds do clip a little, but not unreasonably. It contributes to the "dreamy" quality of the picture.
no i did not, i only smash mosquito...perhaps one day i'll upload the terrible end of a mosquito's life in "a shot with a story"...
