Love the colour and the detail here, and the light is especially good. Your choice of landscape presentation is not what one might expect with this subject (to crop the head and feet), but it works really well. Well done.

nice shot,
but the vertical portion is placed a bit wierdly according to me,
ideally if it was placed further to the right, off center it would be ideal..just my 2 cents
BeppeRdam (Giuseppe Moscarda) added a critique 9 months ago:
nice capture, but I agree with shivahuja: the composition could have been nicer by moving the vertical element on the side.

Days like this are meant for hiking! The visual interest here is lacking something. I am just not sure what you want me to look at here. That bolder on the left side might be a good focal point if it was not cropped out of the frame. This is indeed empty... or maybe barren would be a better term.
photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) added a critique 11 months ago:
nice shot, the colour of the sky is very beautiful.
did you use a wide angle ?
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 11 months ago:
@Geoffery, Nikon 18-70 on D70 at 18mm which is the 35mm equivalent of 27mm. The air was very dry that day and the sky was really that blue!! This trail is @4000 feet in elevation, great January day for hiking in the Southern California high desert.

Very good. Where it is?

Near 49 Palms Oasis in Joshua Tree NP, in Southern California.

The seat is facing the view, the birches provide solitude-enhancing music of air rustling the leaves (if there are any...season), and the dandelions provide sunshine on possibly a dull day. A cool beer and a terrific companion would complete this idyll. Nice picture you paint, will! :OD

This says sky, or water, or boats, but not minimalism.

"About "Minimalism"
Created by Paulforrester

i think the boats are not so big in this shot...but thanks for the comment
grahambo (Graham Siebe) added a critique 11 months ago:
I think the shot would "feel" more minimal if it didn't have the cloud across the top, but it is still topical. I like the cloud coming in from the right though.
If I could suggest one change, it would be to increase the sharpness on the boats and smooth out the sky.
andresalegria added a critique 10 months ago:
i like the blue of the sky and the water. the color increases the compatibility with minimalism, but there might be too much going on to be really minimal.
LeStro added a critique 9 months ago:
Great composition, whether minimalist or not. Good job.

I agree, the guy in the hat and cane add so much to the image. Nice light and moment.
