Muchas gracias por su critica KidJim. Saludos

MMeye added a critique 11 months ago:

Very attractive, particularly because of the warm tones gradient. I only wish the boat had been a bit off centered. But I just read that Jean Marc likes it, which is the evidence that it is difficult to please everyone ! ;-)

Gracias por su critica MMeye. Muchas veces sucede que es dificil acertar plenamente, siempre se nos escapará algún pequeño detalle. Saludos.

photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) added a critique 11 months ago:

i feel the peace in this shot, beautifull colour and comp unless the power pole in the upper right and the little light in the center

juanantonio (J.A. Pellicer) said 11 months ago:

Muchas gracias por su critica, creo que hay casi unanimidad en cuanto a que el poste de la derecha perjudica la composicion. Saludos

Lovely capture, well done. The only little remark I have is the cloud in the sky and its reflection. For me, the reflection takes away some of the serenity and calmness of the water.

Other than that minor nitpicking this is a wonderful shot :)

prometheus (Thomas) added a critique 11 months ago:

More than the cloud the Citylights in the background are disturbing the calmness of this picture.
But a great picture indeed.

Nick (Nick) added a critique 11 months ago:

Great reflections! I find the diagonal thing in the foreground distracting.

Ladybug (Lisa Ruokis) added a critique 11 months ago:

Awesome colors and reflections! I'm not sure if I would pick this for the theme if it were my photo, but the topic seems pretty open to interpretation.

photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) added a critique 11 months ago:

colour, comp, reflections everything is perfect in this shot

good job

Good idea, but the execution is not quite there. So - it's still interesting!

Best,
Jon

flipthom added a critique 11 months ago:

I love the idea but in my opinion, the composition is a bit off. I think a bit of straightening, and slight shift to the right would've worked much better. I actually like the inclusion of the child though. I think it adds some quirky interest.

Nick (Nick) added a critique 11 months ago:

I like the light and the idea. I wish the little person was more central.

susiej (Susie Janowski) said 11 months ago:

The next time I get back to this place, I'm going to rework the shot. Thank you all for the tips. So, I think move the shot to the right to show more of the width of the stairs, try to increase the height, and get my daughter to cooperate and be slightly more centered (that'll be a challenge for a 2 and a half year old). Thanks for the ideas, all.

photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) added a critique 11 months ago:

i like the idea it fits perfectly to the topics.
perhaps the little girl would have been much interesting in another place of the shot (ex : down the stairs)

Really well done. The gradient light in the background is one of these photographic details what makes the difference between a good and a very good picture.

Regards
Thomas
P.S.: sorry for my unperfect english

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 11 months ago:

Yes, very nice. The stark contrast between the color and nature of the two liquids is smart and well seen.

This is eyecandy, Thomas, to be sure! Very interesting and beautiful work.

Best,
Jon

@Nick: I'm not sure my sister would approve of the usage of 'he' here :)
And it's in the Uyuni salt flat, in Bolivia, which is so flat that you can actually see Earth's curvature, so I don't think there was a very high risk she might run into something for another 10km ;)

Excellent shot !!. Congratulations

trancho (Bob Trancho) said 1 year ago:

Thanks everyone - a short blurb on this shot:

This was taken on the Otter Crest Loop Road, outside of (you guessed it...) Otter Crest (near Depoe Bay) on the Oregon Coast. It was one of those classic Pacific coast days where the sun was out strong while there was fog trying to roll in from the ocean. The loop road is maybe 2 miles long and I must have pulled over and started shooting 5 times along the way. The conditions lasted all of 30 minutes - right time/right place. You get lucky sometimes.

Very nice. I love the accent of the sunbeams. Beautiful!

Nick (Nick) said 11 months ago:

I love the rays of light. Fantastic!!

KerriDoodle (Kerri) said 11 months ago:

Wow, very nice. With the angle of the shot and the light through the trees, it's like witnessing a UFO landing! Ominous.

prometheus (Thomas) added a critique 11 months ago:

It is well composed, but the light is not exiting. And a darker exposure would make the colours more saturated

Regards
Thomas

nattfodd (Alexandre Buisse) added a critique 11 months ago:

It lacks sharpness, the composition could be better (what are you trying to show here? I can't find a subject nor directing lines) and the white balance is really off in the green/blue direction.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 11 months ago:

Agree with most of above, and I think it's in the wrong Topic, should be "Urban life", imo.

sfkp (Tamara) said 11 months ago:

Thanks for your feedback! It helps me (I'm really a greenhorn). I never thought about this photo hasn't a subject, I was just passing and liked the colours of the flowers and everything. Now I look again, I see are a little off, indeed.

greets
Tamara

lolly (lolly smits) added a critique 11 months ago:

I think if you closed in on that metal structure, and took some pix around that, which could be quite graphic from different angles and different exposures/apertures, would do it for me! :~)))

It's very intense. The lighting seems to do this justice. I like it very much!

Pindakaas (Maartje) said 11 months ago:

Thanks all!
Yes its a bit too soft, I agree, I thought about sharpening with photoshop but I dislike editing sharpness. Its not natural, most of the time not good looking and I prefer it to be sharp right away.
Better luck next time I quess.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 11 months ago:

Gorgeous shot! Love the light and while it good be a bit sharper - still works for me!

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 11 months ago:

Screw the sharpness, go B&W, crunch the levels and add grain, then ... art evolves. We are mostly all too fixated on sharpness here in the digital world. The one comment I would make is the bit of food? in the beak is distracting to me. I would paint it out.

Pindakaas (Maartje) said 11 months ago:

haha thank you for that last comment! I did the B&W, levels and grain and it does look better :-) (and I got the food out of his beak)

une belle macro proche de l'abstraction . la couleur, les lignes les textures, la composition sont excellentes. Un peu plus de DOF peut être

crahan (Thomas Bouve) added a critique 11 months ago:

I love the symmetry in this image, but the contrast is just a little bit too high for my taste. Still, very nice macro, well done!
