Schmidi (Zoltán Schmidt) added a critique 6 months ago:

The leaves on the right are disturbing for me, without them the water would be more impressive on the picture.

MrVertigoo (Tomer Rozenblum) added a critique 6 months ago:

I would take the frame out of this one. i think it will look nicer without it.

breaves (Brennan Greaves) added a critique 6 months ago:

I agree with the above comments, it is a good shot though, beautiful location

ScottCrouse (Scott Crouse) added a critique 6 months ago:

Truly a stunning location, a shame about the plant on the right but I suspect your on a cliff and movement was limited. Would love to see a more closeup of the lighthouse with the water.

photoaholic (Geoffrey Reynertz) added a critique 6 months ago:

i don't agree with the comments on the plant ! imo, they are interesting in the shot
good job

It's a very sad beach picture, the angle is nice but i think you could have played a bit with the colors

narnold (Noah Arnold) added a critique 6 months ago:

I have a hard time deciding where to focus, the dock or the couple. I really like the sharpness of the couple though, and the forground really gives the photo a mood! Good job!

mikeock (Mike Adams) added a critique 6 months ago:

The foreground really gives me the mood of the shot.
To me, it feels like even with the decay and such on the beach love will still survive.
Great idea and i like the execution other than knowing for sure what the focal point was.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 6 months ago:

I don't get "sad" at all, lovely image. The lack of interest focus is a bit of a problem, not sure how to solve it with this capture. A wider lens and closer would have yielded a very different feel and might have solved, but that's a re-shoot...

CEG added a critique 6 months ago:

I get a hard-times kind of feel from this shot. Two people feeling that's al they have at the moment. Very interesting.

I agree with you Beamer.
Great creative use of flare to achieve something different! I like the effect that the flare has given!

Wonderful job!

Beautiful backlighting to give a wonderful glow to the feathers. Excellent photo.

Ahhhh...a dream of mine!!! Love it!

guitarbrat added a critique 7 months ago:

What a great shot! I can hear the crunch of the snow that the poles and shoes are making along with the breaths that are being taken in and being expelled.
A very moving story with this shot.

eziler added a critique 7 months ago:

Oh my gosh...you were actually there to take this photo?? Outstanding perspective, excellent detail and wonderful color. Wow!

MrVertigoo (Tomer Rozenblum) said 7 months ago:

boyd added a critique 7 months ago:

I like this shot a lot, particularly the fact that you have looked "in" and made subjects of the people when they are all looking "out" seeing a subject elsewhere. The cut off bloke doesn't bother me because it suggests that there is more of the same gong on outside this frame. Great tones too, well done.

TheOldMan (Mel Buckpitt) added a critique 7 months ago:

I agree this works well in B&W and is a great people shot. As for loosing the man on the left, I think you would have also lost the guy above him. This would have spoilt the 'buzy' nature of the shot.

Pradeep (Pradeep P) added a critique 7 months ago:

Lovely contrasts, works great in b&w.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) added a critique 7 months ago:

Great capture - the man on the far left is an unnecessary distraction, however, and takes away from a great shot.

Best,
Jon

lotr_n1 (Nathan Hauser) added a critique 6 months ago:

I agree with jon about the man, but the crispness is great, and it feels like a real action shot.

Gran sombra, es una pena la arruga en la parte de atrás.

Great clarity and vivid colors. I like how the shadow reveals details not seen directly from the camera's perspective. Nicely done!

Hey,

Excellent comment! That's the point.

I like how the sun is hidden from view, but the rays are very obvious...I'm not sure why but I really like it that way, just my opinion...well done as always :)

Noah

MrVertigoo (Tomer Rozenblum) added a critique 6 months ago:

The reason i like it is because it's so real.... it's like you just woke up and your eyes are still out of focus and that is the first thing you see. it's a bit hard to explain the point here...what I'm trying to say is that the blur and the fact that it is out of focus gives it the personalty that it has.

jvgphoto (jon van gilder) said 6 months ago:

Noah and Tomer - thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts - I am very glad to hear from you. Keep up the good work!

Best,
Jon

AnaGaztelu (Ana Gaztelu) added a critique 6 months ago:

Estoy de acuerdo con Noah en lo de los rayos. Me habría gustado ver algo enfocado en todo el desenfoque...

I just couldn't resisted, this photo wasn't edited on Photoshop or anything like this (other than a tiny crop for the sides), it was left just the way it was taken.

Heath (Heath Carney) said 7 months ago:

This would have been more effective if you cloned out her shadow.
