Where is this taken?

MomentsinTime (Pete Brennan) said 1 year ago:

This was taken at a place in Boston named Copp's Hill Burying Ground. It's on the freedom trail.

jsmanseau said 1 year ago:

Thats what I thought. Could pretty much recognize that cemetery anywhere. Nice shot.

Pro-centered v Con-centered 3:4 - c'mon, we still can equalize :)))

23pixels (Rowell) added a critique 1 year ago:

That is ultimate solitude. I think leaving the person in the middle is great because it leaves space all around the person making it "solitude".

gregcsmith (Greg Smith) added a critique 1 year ago:

I think 23pixels has it spot on. Just right for the topic. Not sure I am loving the red bag though. I think you should reduce the saturation on it. Good shot!

manickavelu (velu) added a critique 1 year ago:

the red bag, because of the saturation of the color, draws the eye right to it .. that make the redbag & the person holding it the main subject. just my opinion :)

Marco (Marc-Antoine VACHON) added a critique 1 year ago:

With the panoramic view, the person seems really alone. Nice shot

Ouch!!! That looks like it's going to hurt! Nice one though even if it made me shudder.

Nice photo! I had to stare at it for a few seconds to figure the the second crab is about ready to pinch the first crab's eyes!

miniTotoro (Natalie) added a critique 1 year ago:

ha! that's a great shot. Looks good to me. Point of interest is in a great spot that works well for this image. DOF is good too.

This was indeed staged to go along with a short story I wrote for Halloween last year (this was one of several renditions of this type of photo).

The story was titled "Rachel" and was published on my blog over the course of 2 days, Halloween and Nov. 1.

The reason this one has meaning is because few rarely see this side of me at all since this is quite out of character for me, the writing included. (Well not so much the writing, but this type of photo along with the writing.)

I can copy the story here if anyone is really interested. There were a series of photos that went with it.

www.capturethisphotography.com/2006/10/suffering-2...

That was the "teaser" intro which actually had a different photo with it.

www.capturethisphotography.com/2006/11/rachel-rest...

These were the photos for the rest of the story along with the actual story.

It was a silly attempt at a short story, but it was fun.

I like the photo! The only thing that I would do, (and it's just my opinion) is to crop out the headstone to the right. This would be a smaller picture to keep my eyes from wandering.

oliverchank (Oliver Chank) added a critique 1 year ago:

It is indeed a beautiful picture. Maybe a closer view from a different angle, other than straight in front of the stone, would have given a more obvious message/feeling.

jsmanseau added a critique 1 year ago:

Yes, beautiful and interesting. I agree with the copping out of the headstone to the right to make it a smaller/tighter shot.

Beautiful! This would be a good cd cover:)

MomentsinTime (Pete Brennan) added a critique 1 year ago:

This is cool and I understand the long exposure, but why so much black on the left and center of the picture? Would a tighter crop look better?

chaba (David Chabashvili) added a critique 1 year ago:

have to agree with MomentsinTime..way too much black

dcrphotography (Daniel) added a critique 1 year ago:

A tighter crop is needed.

Funny picture! Though I would have liked it to be a bit sharper, and closer to the subject. I feel there is too much empty space around the lights and girl. Being closer would have given bigger and softer bokeh, making the subject's delicate traits stand more.

MomentsinTime (Pete Brennan) said 1 year ago:

Oliver, I agree with you and thought about doing just that. But, I thought, someone would say is doen't fit the theme. So I decided to keep the shadow of the earth in more of the picture! And the lights speaks for itself.

Thanks again!

Pete

Sweet image. A little soft on the girls face but it's still sweet.
