prometheus (Thomas) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like the composition very much, maybe the reflection on the ground in the middle disturbes a little bit

boughey (Adrian Boughey) added a critique 1 year ago:

Very nice. Great atmosphere. My only critique has already been mentioned; I also find the highlight of the floor in the front centre a little distracting.

tulna (Tulna Chauhan) added a critique 1 year ago:

This is a very classy shot. I agree with boughey about the highlighted floor at bottom of the shot. Apart from that, superb!

philippe (Philippe Reichert) added a critique 1 year ago:

One of my favorites.

andreas (Andréas Saudemont) added a critique 1 year ago:

I love the framing and colors but I would have preferred the seats to be sharper.

Nicely rusty. I like the composure. The camera horizontal axis seems to be a bit off (closer on the right than the left). This doesn't help the perspective.

Laurie (Laurie) said 1 year ago:

Willie...This was not a flat surface if you look at it you will see that it has lots of different planes. It's a door on a railroad boxcar. The far right of the shot has a large rod that is closer to the camera than the wrench and the door is behind that and the boxcar is behind that. The main focus is the wrench which is huge. The wrench was about 4 feet in length. It is deceiving in a photo but this is a very large train car.

I put up a wider view of what this is from here:
capturethisphoto.aminus3.com/image/2005-01-01.html

The rail car on the far left of this shot is where the shot was from. You can see the broken hinge if you look.

A very interesting shot! You've done a great job fitting all that detail into a single frame. Great response to the topic!

Very tight.

riesenriel (riesenriel) said 1 year ago:

A really wonderful backlighting Ashish! The tones and silhouettes are just great.

extrajection (David Hawkins-Weeks) said 1 year ago:

Excellent perspective and even like the rather dull brown tone!

MarkDM (Mark Dodge Medlin) said 1 year ago:

Good use of converging lines, with your main subject at the meeting point. Nice colors, too.

dontpanic said 1 year ago:

nice symmetry, maybe a little too much i feel...but i love the tone and the perspective...

Nice light. It must be great in color too. Good choice.

MarkDM (Mark Dodge Medlin) said 1 year ago:

I love a well-shot photo that makes me laugh. Nice job with the lines, the tones, the motion, the whole package.

ikol22 (Fabrizio Zanelli) said 1 year ago:

It's a great great shot. It's able to communicate joy and motion in a cold, vivid Winter day. I love it. Really !

Pi-Production (Eric Rousset) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like the DOF as well with "Big hand & Small heart" nice pic.

bbonner (Bonner Photographic) added a critique 1 year ago:

The tattoo makes the image. The detail and the falling off of DOF really makes the image work well together.

MarkDM (Mark Dodge Medlin) added a critique 1 year ago:

Very nice. The focus is right on the money; you can see every line in the hand that's playing the D chord, and how hard he's pressing with his white fingertips. The tattoo is a nice bonus.

I might've cropped up a bit from the bottom - maybe to the top of the lower tuning peg to focus the attention even more on the hand - but that's a quibble.

cashleym (Ashley Tanner) added a critique 1 year ago:

I really like this photo. Great DOF. The details in this photo are really nice.

chromadreams (David) added a critique 1 year ago:

bokeh-junior (Ed Simons) added a critique 1 year ago:

You should check out the work of JMW Turner. That's what this reminds me of. If this is the effect you were aiming for then well done. I might try it myself ;-)

philippe (Philippe Reichert) added a critique 1 year ago:

I agree with Arne and Mark. I really like this kind of moody shot.

joka (Johannes Kapp) added a critique 1 year ago:

seems to be a painting

philippe (Philippe Reichert) added a critique 1 year ago:

Every time I see this photograph, I love it more. It reminds me the painting of Nicolas de Staƫl.

kyla (Kyla) added a critique 1 year ago:

This is beautiful Vernon- it has an ethereal quality something I would love to have on my wall in a large painted format.

schupin (Sylvain chupin) added a critique 1 year ago:

I don't really appreciate this portrait. For me the background is too disturbing espacially the lighting car behind the hands. However the expression of the man was well captured !

MarkDM (Mark Dodge Medlin) said 1 year ago:

Sylvain, you've just confirmed everything I thought about this photo. This guy was painting pictures at a street fair, so this is a bit of a snapshot. I thought his expression outweighed the imperfections, though. Thanks for your comments.

A bit of lens correction on this to get the verticals straight and this would have been a cracking shot! Colours and tone are good.

MarkDM (Mark Dodge Medlin) said 1 year ago:

Yeah, I couldn't quite get the lines straight. I'm still pretty happy with it, though. Thanks for your comments.

The contrasting shapes and colors - circle and square, red and blue - are great. A little less blue at the top might give you a stronger image, but either way, this is really striking.

kufever (Yvette) said 1 year ago:

Nice symmetry in this composition.
