Yes, I agree that everything about this image feels "right". I too appreciate the sharpness you have achieved and the great tonal range to successfully pick out the subject. Well done.

I love the feel of this image and the processing to get it there. I'd love to know how you did this as it's something I've been trying to do myself. Would you mind a bit of info?
bradford (Bradford Levine) said 1 year ago:
Thanks to everyone for the great feedback on this one. Dana, this was quite easy actually - all I did was punch up the contrast pretty high and then increased the saturation. I also cropped the left side to really fill the frame - I didn't want any empty space on wither side of the image. Have a great weekend.

Thanks Bradford...simple technique indeed!

I like the play, It's a man, but the photo is a tipically woman shot.

Sorry, but I can't see what is unusual here. For me it is nothing but a very common daily scene.
sfkp (Tamara) said 1 year ago:
The way you made this pic, standing on that position is unusual. A bit dangerous maybe, too: just before the doors will sliding to close.
I like this one. The crowded subway in contrast with the almost empty platform. The man in the train who's is looking in the direction of the camera from the corner of his eyes.
If I travel by subway, I always want to make photo's of the weird situation beiing with so many diffrent people in a tiny space and not interacting with eachother. In a subway, under the ground in a tunnel, it's worst then in a normal train or bus: you can't look outside. That's way the effect of people, strangly not really interacting, is even stronger. But... making random pictures... I'm afraid people think I'm weird.
JBridges (Jim Bridges) said 1 year ago:
I really wanted to vote for this picture as I think it's a really neat shot that made me have to look twice to work out exactly what was going on. The juxtaposition between the crowded subway and the emptiness of the platform is striking.
But in the end, I can't give it a vote in the "Unusual" category. I think you've got it in the wrong category. While the composition is definitely a bit unusual, I don't think the subject matter is. Put it under "Urban Life", and you've got a winner in my eyes.

for me, a person who has only seen subways and commuter trains in the media, this is as unusual a snow covered street is to someone living in the tropics- it's all a matter of perspective (in more than one way)

Well, he's at least man's best friend. I rather think this is covered by the "artistic" part of the topic (artistic license -- no test or proof of insurance necessary). Good fun!

Almost fell off my chair when I saw what topic you posted this to.
But since nobody else seems to comment on anything but the topic:
I love the composition of this. There would be a rather big chunk of grey, but you broke it up nicely with the belt and the bone. Not just a joke, but a good picture in itself!

Dommage.
Un très joli moment saisi, Franck. Bravo.
It looks good to me. The processing is really nice. And the fact you can see the flies in the picture is actually quite amazing.
