All I can add is that this is like a gift that just keeps on giving. I particularly like the way the shot not only captured the theme, but elicited responses that also fit perfectly - brightened my day, thanks!

This almost made me pee my pants!!

KerriDoodle,

No offense on the name.
It has actually been a running joke to see how many people get it...
This is not the first time i have used it:
web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.mikeock.net

boyd,
Glad you liked it!

diezel99,

So my vision was correct?

I went and looked this weekend and it is still visible.
They filled the brown spots with sod but the sod is of a different variety of grass. That makes the outline stand out even worse.
I went to take some shots, and there was a family ice-blocking down the hill.
did not think it was appropriate to shoot that with the family playing right next to it!

anemix (John Anderson) added a critique 1 year ago:

I'd have tried to line up the art with the house for future poster use.
If you'd like to see one worse than this find a satellite picture on google maps or mapquest of -
"2626 Easton Blvd, Des Moines, IA, United States"
the city paid millions to construct this piece of urban art.

mikeock (Mike Adams) said 1 year ago:

Lol.
That Google map is even funnier as it's not graffiti!
Thanks for sharing that and the suggestion!

I might have pulled back on the exposure, but it does add a haunting effect. Nice.

KerriDoodle (Kerri) said 1 year ago:

Thank you all for your nice comments! :)

Snaps, this is my first attempt at high key...by pulling back on the exposure do you mean adding more shades of gray? I appreciate your insight.

ErikUnger (Erik Unger) added a critique 1 year ago:

Very cool shot and beautiful dog.

snaps (Dana N) added a critique 1 year ago:

Looking at this again, and realizing you were trying something new - I think it does work. The eyes pop. But, there is a big part of me that wishes for a bit more depth through the features. Yes, a bit more tonal range...more grays to pull out some texture and features.

mrsmorunion (Tammy Runion) added a critique 1 year ago:

It is a little intense, but the bright white also intensifies the eyes and I think that's what you were going for. I do like it.

TammyLynn (Tammy) said 1 year ago:

This has the potential to be a great shot, but the photographer has taken it too far. The inclusion of genitalia ruins the whole shot for me. ... as it has several other shots in this series.

misu (Mikhail Palinchak) said 1 year ago:

Tammy, You have some tabu with genitalia on photos?

TammyLynn (Tammy) said 1 year ago:

No, I do not. I just feel there is a time and a place for it, and this is neither.

misu (Mikhail Palinchak) said 1 year ago:

Hm... can you explaine me what You meen "time and a place for it"?

KerriDoodle (Kerri) said 1 year ago:

I have to agree with TammyLynn. It seems to me this site is posting more and more nudes, which I can understand the artistic value of when done tastefully. However, I feel this photo crosses the line.

This picture would have had far more impact and intrigue had you cropped just below the ring finger.

Sonoma added a critique 2 years ago:

I would not crop it tighter. The subject centered the way he is and the fact that noone else is visible on the street adds a lonely feeling to the photo. I wouldn't change it. Sometimes having some excess picture around the edges is a good thing. Some people feel the subject has to be all that's in the picture. I disagree. Good shot.

jodosh (Johnny Haddock) added a critique 2 years ago:

I agree with Sonoma, I enjoy the darkness that seems to engulf him from all sides.

The lighting in wonderful. Really top notch job.

Pradeep (Pradeep P) added a critique 1 year ago:

Wonderful lighting and lovely shadows. I guess i would love it more if the subject was not centered...just my 2 cents :)

RobH (Rob Heverly) added a critique 1 year ago:

I was confused when commenters were talking about the "centered subject" in this photo. I kept thinking, "the cart isn't centered, it's wonderfully off-center, moving from the right side of the frame to the left." The man is little more than the motor for the cart, as I see it. The lighting is delightful and the image evokes a wonderful feel. What throws me off a little is that the image is tilted to the right; the man isn't quite straight, the cart isn't quite straight, the lines on the walls are not quite straight. I'm not a stickler for purely vertical images, but if an image is off-kilter, I want it to be for a reason. I keep wanting this tilt to tell me something, to indicate something about the story, or the emotion you wanted me to feel, but I can't get anything from it, and here it seems to go against the rather calm elements that are otherwise featured in the image. I still like it.

guczo (Attila Balogh) said 1 year ago:

Thank you Rob, appreciate your comments!
I took this photo at an old part of Shanghai where it's impossible to find a straight line - even the cart itself was tilting to the right..

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough in my statement regarding the composite ~ only because it is such a wonderful once in a lifetime shot someone could. think it was a composite. I didn't mean to imply that I thought it was! :)

I myself captured some lightening this summer, tho not nearly as dramatic or beautiful; but a cool thing anyway.

If you're interested, you can see it here:

Lightning photos are my favorite. I also try to capture it but have yet to be successful. I love the picture and hopefully one day I will submit one as great as yours.

athamanass (thanos) added a critique 2 years ago:

It's strange way of thinking but the fact that this image could easily be a composite makes it less important than it should be. Eventhough it real and what you capture is very unique we have seen it so many times in fake images and thus a little bit of magic and power is lost.
Of course as everybody else I think it's a brilliant shot anyway

Sonoma added a critique 2 years ago:

Great shot. Timing IS everything. Lonely country feel, awesome.

shivahuja (shiv ahuja) added a critique 1 year ago:

amazing shot,not much critique possible,
but if i were nitpicking,i'd wonder what this shot would look like if it were wider.

Very lovely - the composition is wonderful and the lines look to participating in a ballet together.
This almost looks like powdered sugar...

Thanks for being to you to stop on this photograph. It is a Venetian blind since my kitchen, in bottom one sees the blind of the balcony. In Nice, we have a pleasant and often sunny climate.
