This image seems to be more about the dreamcatcher that the person, so maybe this Topic is the wrong place for this. You don't have to show a persons face to have a good portrait, but if you do show it this much, you want to be able to see it. Here the face is not lit and he is looking at the dreamcatcher. The dark area in the lower right is distracting, I would clone it out. The framing/cropping on the left is tight, it would be nice to see the whole antler.
The tones and values for the skin and the skull are very nice. The DoF is nice also.

I agree with Beamer regarding dark patch in the lower-right corner and cutting off the left side, but rather like the shot otherwise. I live in Montana and this is just rough native and mtn. man style, it's familiar and works for me. A little more light on his face would have been cool. Thanks for submitting, Jessa.

Hi Jessa,
Is a nice photo, i dont really find distracting the dark area in the lower right, but i would like to see the whole antler thats what i really think that distracts the attention. Next time try to put the subject in one piece inside the photography, dont cut it, take care with that and then dont forget to erase distracting dark areas too.
See you!

I have to agree that for me it seems more about the dream catcher and less about the man, although the man does add drama etc. I particularly like the use you have made of the depth of field to bring the subject forward. Overall, very pleasing to me.

Thanks for the help everyone and all the nice comments :)
I hadn't really thought about it until you mentioned it Beamer & Boyd, it is more about the dreamcatcher. When posting, I was torn between portrait of a person of shot with a story. Hmmm perhaps it would have worked better in the latter.

this is straight from cam, I haven't done any post other than resizing for vaz.. though I did try. Nothing I tried seemed to make much difference, so I thought I would post here and see what you all thought might help.
