I agree with all of the above. It's really 'moving', the water, which makes it nice to look at!
zenith9 (Bob and Jeannie) added a critique 1 year ago:
Very nice movement through the scene.

The contrast between the gray rock and the brown leaf is just perfect, the gentle water surrounding the leaf really gives it dimension and softness. Nicely done my dear!

Nicely done. A simple photo that works so well.
dcannaday added a critique 1 year ago:
Very nice and simple. Contrast works great.
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 year ago:
This is a very intriguing image, has a nice surreal feel to it. Works really great in this Topic.
uncommondepth (Roberta Murray) added a critique 1 year ago:
Perfect! This is another favorite of mine. I think the only thing to be critical of in this image is that the leaf stem is cut off, but that is really a minor point that doesn't distract from the positive qualities of the image. The water and motion give the image a fluidity that is just beautiful.

Great shot. This should be on the way to a feature. The detail is excellent and the texture of the petal as well. Great job.
Jenseye (Jen) added a critique 1 year ago:
Excellent macro...the detail and focus are perfect
TammyLynn (Tammy) added a critique 1 year ago:
Lovely picture, love the detail. Great shot.

Thanks everyone. I was unsure about the amount of darkness in the left-hand corner, but apparently it hasn't bothered anyone.

Oh, and there seems to be a bright line of sharpening halo around the black areas. When I do photos like this, I usually sharpen a separate layer then erase the halo around the transition to the original photo.
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 1 year ago:
@grahambo No sharpening done at all, therefore, your first comment, second comment? I don't see it.
The whole sharpening thing is something I still haven't done much of. Digital photography is new enough to me that some parts of it still make me feel like a novice. I know of some good tutorials and I have a friend at work that is very experienced, I just have taken the time to really get into it.

I love the subtle colors. As for the object on the left side, I don't mind it too much, but might have cropped to the far edge of it so as not to have it split that part of the frame but rather be a part of the frame. Or perhaps just cropped it all together.
I think the "halo" is just the waning light as it shown on the edge of the mountain.
Scott Kelby has some great basic photoshop books if you want to learn photoshop.

Just lovely... very good angle. Only one little point, I would have framed it in a panoramic format, and cropped a bit at the top.
weeneydog (Keith Johnson) added a critique 1 year ago:
Love this, the only thing I would do to it is crop out some of the empty space at the top and if you can use a "shadow/highlights" edit to bring out some of the detail in the center of the flower.
Great job. Beautiful.

WOW what a very cool shot, nice clearity and colour. I just love the contrast. Good DOF.
mizztech (Maria Little) added a critique 1 year ago:
nice macro shot, love the drops on the sunflower..
the only thing like Keith says is that I also should crop some of the empty space out.. part from that it's just perfect..
Greetzzzz...

So you didn't take a screwdriver to this and remove the lic plate??? Why not??
Seriously, I like this a lot. It does seem to be a little restrictive cropping/framing. What I see is great, would it be better to see more?? Not sure...

Very nice.
From what i can gather, this is an old firetruck.
Great exposure and details.
I agree that the numbers are a bit distracting.
Heck you could prob tone it down and the comments would not center on this!

I like it alot .. love the details and the tight cropping make it unique!

Agree with the others that the cropping leaves you wanting a bit more of the 'scene' surrounding the subject. Nice saturation of colors, but perhaps this subject could do without blurring the edges. What was he doing? Yawning or growling? :)
Jenseye (Jen) added a critique 1 year ago:
I like the blur edges...gives the wild lion a bit of a softer feel.

Reminds me of the Lion from "The Lion The Witch & The Wardrobr"... or the film The Chronicles of Narnia
I also am not to keen on the blurred edges!
Lindy (Lindy G) added a critique 1 year ago:
I like the blur edges ,gives a dreamy quality and we always think of lions so strong.. that is just my opinion.. very cool shot..
I agree the colors are fantastic!
