I live and work in Leiden, The Netherlands. I've been an amateur photographer since I was a student. I started in B&W for the thrill of the dark room, but when the kids got more time-demanding I retreated to mostly family and vacation shots.

In 2002 I bought myself a digital SLR. Boy, was I impressed with the capabilities of this new toy! The added functionality and the instant feedback triggered that slumbering itch to wish to record all striking moments in life and share it with you here at Vazaar and some other websites.

Despite most of my photos that I upload here were made with my DSLRs, I've never entirely stopped shooting film. I still possess all of my old film cameras or I bought them back now that their prices on the second hand market are so cheap.

I like to shoot B&W film with my classic rangefinder cameras that I started collecting a few years ago. They are beautiful mechanical-optical instruments that were made to last and after 50 years still look and function as if they came out of the box yesterday. After digital-auto-everything, having to think again about exposures and camera settings is a surprisingly refreshing experience.
