Now that's a great macro! Wonderful DOF and detail. Cute face on this spider, too! :)

Thank you. Do you wanna kiss her ? ;)

mrsmorunion (Tammy Runion) said 10 months ago:

I hope that was taken with a really good zoom lens! If not, you're my new hero!!! Neat shot, but I wouldn't want to be that close to it!

Nick (Nick) said 10 months ago:

WoW! That is close. Love the detail.

thanks for the comment, dontbrandme.

this shot was taken in a garden & what you see in the background is a set of out-of-focus flowers. shooting it with a Nikkor 200 macro at a wide aperture really isolates the background & lets the foreground stand out.

gregcsmith (Greg Smith) said 1 year ago:

Awesome shot!

I REALLY love it. It's awesome.

ooo nice door shot jordan

Helene (Hélène Douchet) said 1 year ago:

Great shot ! I like the perspective.

boyd added a critique 1 year ago:

Perspective, texture and exposure are all very nice. I particularly like the web, but I would like to see what the overall effect would be if it was in sharper focus (thus putting the foreground into less focus). Just a thought. Well done just getting a glimpse of the knob as well to give away the subject.

lbstone (Brandon Stone) said 1 year ago:

I agree that the focus is great. What really makes this photo for me is how the water droplet is sitting right in that dark shadow. Just a perfect combination.

Neuner said 1 year ago:

Great point - I didn't pick up on the shadow behind it, but it definitely makes it pop out of the image.

leaves said 1 year ago:

surreal!

manda23 (Amanda Gilligan) said 1 year ago:

Fabulous. What perfect timing.

OrganisingSpace (Organisingspace) said 1 year ago:

Yes, I like that water droplet too and the difference in the degree of sharpness.

Laurie (Laurie) said 1 year ago:

This is actually a macro of a tiny, dried, miniature yellow rose. (Well it was getting rather brown when this was shot.)

Helene (Hélène Douchet) added a critique 1 year ago:

I really like the B&W work (from black to white), not just grey. I also like the details on the rose and the light/dark work.

Great shot.

Topher (Christopher Mueller) added a critique 1 year ago:

Agreed. Really great lighting here and great detail. The texture is what grabs the the most. A fresh flower seems fragile enough, but this one seems like it will crumble if I touch it. A favorite. If anything I'd like to see the flower further to the left, but I also like the importance of the stem/leaves.

prometheus (Thomas) added a critique 1 year ago:

Great! This impression and the mood the picture has impresses me. Nothing to critizises for me.

Myke (Michael) added a critique 1 year ago:

Very cool BW photo! Good work.

grayphotog added a critique 1 year ago:

This is great. Timeless, as others have said. Nobody seems to have mentioned it, so I'll add I love the faded word "motorcycles" given that the shot is full of bicycles. One critique, I suppose, is that you might have used a wider lens (or stepped back) to reveal a bit more story. Is there anything interesting about the context that this shop appears within? I would keep the bottom line the same, but I'm interested to see more up and to the left and/or right. What lens did you use by the way?

dominik (Dominik Fusina) said 1 year ago:

@Grayphotog : Thank you for your critics.
I used a DSC-F828 3 years ago ;) Today I'll use my D200 and another lens, more luminous, sure ! Just to see inside the shop (because it's so funny, with full of suspended bicycles ;)
But I don't know if a wide lens would have been a good idea because this shop is the most interesting thing within the street (cars, other shops... too recent).
Remember you : done it 3 years ago only (not in 60's )

andygibb (Andy Gibb) added a critique 1 year ago:
