It seems to be a little bit too dark, a nice shot, but I would like to see a bit more from the scene inside, makes me curious.

Any suggestions for setting on a night shot like this to pick up the light?

Can't or could'nt get to close that night. I had run in with a homeless guy and had to leave.

Well Virginia as said by Johannes it's a bit dark in contraposition to signs (in fact the photo may appear more recommended in "sign" topic). Being in "Urban Life" topic it means you need to pull out light from environment. To do this better way it's to work on white balance. In post production it's difficult if not in RAW format but you can work with "exposure" and "curves" with Photoshop. I hope it helps !

Thanks everyone (Fabrizio always a great help), I turned the RAW setting off on that camera too right before I left the house that night. Im not really sure how to use it in photoshop/illustrator so I shut it off.
Excuse to re-shoot!

Hi GinaMoe, I gotta tell ya, I prefer your original image above to the 'fixed' one. The one above draws you into the photo and into scene. There's a mystery to it and you feel there's a story here. I see the 'life' in this photo. Sometimes there's more to be said in what you don't see than what you can see. The above image is prefect, I'd not change a thing. It screams 'Urban Life'.

I think this would be awesome in signs.

I agree with laurie, would work perfect in topic 'signs'. Maybe to dark, I'd like to know what's behind the glass on the left side. nevertheless, it's majestic ;)

Lindy (Lindy G) added a critique 1 year ago:

maybe better in signs but I love the feel of this .. it has a vintage feel ..nice work.

I think the darkness adds to the image, thats just me.

I really like this image and think that if you had tried to get too much lighter, you would've blown out the neon.

This may be stupid, but for me, the red line upper right is important in your construction.
like colors
saturated, but not too much
and like we can see the street, remind us, it's part of something bigger, and people inside, tell us the story is inside on this picture
Shine on
