I think the darkness adds to the image, thats just me.

I really like this image and think that if you had tried to get too much lighter, you would've blown out the neon.

This may be stupid, but for me, the red line upper right is important in your construction.
like colors
saturated, but not too much
and like we can see the street, remind us, it's part of something bigger, and people inside, tell us the story is inside on this picture

Thanks for the help, I might go back and try to shoot it again. Seems like I was not to off on thinking it was a good compsition.
I was just using a little crapy Olympus that I carry around for times when I see something I want to record.

can you use ISO parameters?,I don't know if that model allows you to do it but if it does, maybe with a little less of ISO it would be sharper as Sher said, maybe with a 200 or even 100 it would be perfect for the shot

I agree with others, and also think that the photo seems to be cut off at the edges. Just a little bit on the sides would add more depth.

It's kinda funky but I like it...reminds of a holga or pinhole image

I guess the horrible looking nails is what make this photo interesting. It would be quite a boring picture if the nails looked normal. But it's not a pic I like looking at... I can almost feel the pain :-(
