Thank you everyone for the comments - This was taken at Thornton State Beach just south of San Francisco on the coast side, my partner in crime was also present. So after trespassing and a 3 mile walk in the sand and passing a dead seal, we finally started to photograph the ocean - it was an absolutely spectacular evening and very warm by SF standards, so not only was it a successful evening photographically it was also very enjoyable.
For those curious this was a 90 second exposure at f8.0 on a EF-S10-22mm wide angle at ISO 100.
