This picture was taken in Nikko, Japan. It's a little town north of Tokyo.

Thanks. Again, very nice. I went to Japan this summer, mainly around Kyoto, but I will be going back next summer and ma looking at different places to go.

I really like the color and how the bow of the boat is in your face.

I remember looking at this a month ago and not knowing what to really make of it... Same reaction now. The boat is quite interesting, the buildings are interesting, the sky is nice but blow out. There seems to be no real focus of interest or appeal for me. Not sure how to improve this framing. My only suggestion would be to try to explore the boat without the buildings taking such a prominent role.

I would crop out the building on the right - somehow this creates a tension that is currently missing. Just my 2 cents, of course.

I can really feel the size of the boat, I really like the colors of this photo as well, I have to agree with Jon, maybe cut the buiding on the right, but I really like the feel of this photo!

The wide angle is very nice here. I think I would have put this one in black and white, with a strong contrast.

It was taken during the closing hour of this temple. This old man is making sure nothing is still burning... Which is a smart move when concidering that the temple is entirely made of wood ;-)

Nice that the children are still and the rest in motion.

On what to improve, I would say that the colors could be more exciting. There is some noise in the photo. The composition could be a little better, maybe by going closer to the children. And there is a foot or something in the lower right corner which is distracting.

I have to agree regarding the colours - seems a little bland! Which over all lets the image down for me.

A tighter crop on the right would have given you some interesting foot play and a dynamic that is presently missing. Nice work overall!

For the crop, that's right, I hardly ever crop and when I do, I always try to keep the regular picture format... but I should have cropped out the right part. it's useless and I agree that the knee on the lower right is disturbing...
Concerning the colors, what exactly should I do ? I'm not really good with post processing as you can see ;-)
Most of my picture are pretty much straight from the camera...

the simplest way to make the colors "pop" is to try upping the saturation a bit.
I would use either photoshop or gimp. Gimp is free so it is a great solution to do so.

The other thing that you can try is an S curve and that along with the saturation should really make the photo speak!

I agree with Jon that the shadows are wonderful in this shot. Overall, I think that the composition is very strong, with a good use of dof to make the subject really pop while still giving a great sense of place.

I really like this shot, although the intense green detracts a bit from the dragonfly. All in all, I'm very impressed with this. :)

I agree with Ana - a good crop would help this considerably - fantastic image, nonetheless.

Great use of DoF. I love the look of the wings against the dark greens. I would crop off the whole top right above the ground floor windows on the the pink house. Then a bit of bottom and make a square format.
