une inversion assez réussie. J'aurais soigné les boutons blancs au post-traitement

This is NOT reversed, this is a fairly straight forward B&W conversion. The plant is a Aeonium arboreum, a succulent that has deep ruby red leaves that graduate to bright green near the center. Other that the B&W conversion this is pretty much what it looked like.

I like this photo, it is different from what we typically see. There is something about it that is making it appear either out of focus or a little fuzzy & I can't put my finger on it. The texture of the flower in the light to dark transition areas may be giving the illusion of noise or slightly out of focus.

This is awesome, Beamer!! It almost doesn't look real!! The shading from the B&W really makes this one. Nice work!!!

Very intersting effect. Keeps attention.

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 1 year ago:

@imagenature, there is no "effect" here, if you mean in software terms. I do think the B&W conversion gives a surreal "effect" to this image. Maybe I'll post he color version so people can see what this plant looks like in color.

The more I look at it, the more it looks like a tattoo...especially if you had cropped the top where the out of focus area begins.

I put this up for publishing at onexposure, it was rejected, sad day... But, the comment was that it didn't show enough meaning/story, which they are big on over there. So...I did another version and posted it on my blog, mostly a more open cropping.

What do you guys think of the alternate version: blog.clydebeamer.com/?p=72

I really like this. I can't decide which photo I like better. On this one, I like that we see more of the center of the plant which is the most interesting part, but the outer leaves on the other photo makes for a stunning photo too. Sorry can't be more help.

Neuner added a critique 1 year ago:

Ahhh, I like the open crop version much better. Cool lines drawing you into the center of the flower. I would post it instead.
