I think the light really brings out the texture and the contrast. Looks like a painting.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I hade a good time at a local botanical garden last weekend. This was one of my favorites (the plant was taller than me, with huge leaves).

I saw the Edward Weston show at the Getty a couple of months ago and it made me with we didn't have software tools like "sharpen". As freeing and fun as the digital photography/photoshop thing is, I often think we over think/over process...
This is quite lovely just like it is, needs only be printed and hung on a wall...

Thanks rvercesi and Beamer. I tend to agree with you, Beamer, as sharpening this image more tends to reduce its ethereal quality. The undulations call for this treatment IMHO.
