The composition and DOF are very good in my opinion. Sadness feeling, but perhaps that was your original intention.

I like the composition and DOF. It seems very low key. I think the contrast or sharpness could be pushed a little harder without ruining the feeling. Try USM with a really large (20-50px) radius and low intensity.

i think the composition is pretty nice. DOF-wise, I'd like either more or less, e.g., the flower in the background either in focus or more out of focus. Lastly, MORE CONTRAST. As is, I think a more contrast can dramatically spiff up this already nice image.

I know you asked for a critique, so here is mine.
Personally, I wouldn't touch it.
It's good as is.

kitaoka (Mark Kitaoka) added a critique 1 year ago:

The composition of this image displays the classic triangular element and follows well the rule of thirds. Your choice of the focal point utilizing a shallow depth of field forces the viewer to move their eye around the image after initially focusing on the main petal. The tones are muted, which adds to the feeling of the image, one of seriousness as well as beauty.

No criticisms for this image.

Really nice Georgia O'Keeffe feel to this. The the tones and the texture in the macro shot. What is your camera?

Olympus E-500 with the Zuiko 50mm macro(an excellent lens).
