I think it's not too dark. The drooping leaves look sad, gloomy, dark. It should be dark. Wonderful picture!

It is not too dark for me, but I'd like to see it a bit lighter. That might give some more depth.

I did desaturate most of the image, but you're right. There's not a lot of difference between this and the original color image.
