Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 7 months ago:

Thanks all!! Hey, Ana, have you been posting anywhere lately?? Found any good new places?

Ana (Ana Cortez) added a critique 7 months ago:

Just by blog, Mister Beamer.
And that is a bit on the slow side.

So nope.
Not posting anywhere cool.

Just commenting here. I don't rate at all. It's worthless to me.
:)

I really like this. The clouds, the dirt, the weeds, the rust, the flat tires... very nice!

soreks (Fedor Soreks) added a critique 5 months ago:

By "blur does not look natural" I meant that the dividing line between the sharp and blurred area is too distinct; making it smoother would lead to more natural blur.

HuubL added a critique 5 months ago:

I like the idea. It's a pity though that the priest's and nun's faces are (partly) hidden.

DarcoTT (Darco TT) added a critique 5 months ago:

como te han comentado más arriba creo que habría que haber intentando que no hubiera tanta diferencia entre la zona desenfocada y la enfocada, con una transición menos brusca. Y no habría desenfocado el suelo del primer plano por estar a la altura de las figuras enfocadas.

La idea es muy buena y el resultado no es malo a pesar de lo que te he dicho ;)

op_perrin (Olivier Perrin) added a critique 5 months ago:

l'idée est bonne, mais j'aurais flouté toute l'image autour des personnages, cela fait bizarre qu'une partie ne soit pas floutée

JBridges (Jim Bridges) added a critique 4 months ago:

I agree with soreks. The composition is interesting (although more faces would be nice), but the applied blur doesn't look right, both because of how "sudden" it is, but also that there are elements down the street (cars, for example) that are more in focus than the woman walking on the left side, despite being clearly further in the background. I think that is more the problem with how the blur has been applied here.

boyd added a critique 5 months ago:

Featureless and interesting at the same time. I like the use that you have made of the colour as well as the road to provide interest here. Well done.

JBridges (Jim Bridges) added a critique 4 months ago:

It definitely works for me for the topic, and even aside from that is just a good photo over-all.

I cut the upper exposed part and edited a bit. Re-uploaded to "signs"

AnaGaztelu (Ana Gaztelu) added a critique 5 months ago:

Me gusta.

boyd added a critique 5 months ago:

It made me stop. I think that the cropping that you have done works well, I am not so much a fan of the heavy and uneven vignette effect that you have included. However, this is still a powerful image.

Saludos.

soreks (Fedor Soreks) added a critique 5 months ago:

Good blur/sharp and black/gray contrasts, the eyes look bright.

On a critique side: a bit too much blurred stone in the background, hardly can be cropped out as the sharp area of stone will also go away. The tood's eye look a bit too centered.

GarrettHall (Garrett Hall) added a critique 5 months ago:

I agree that the toad's eyes are bit too centered. I think that cropping a bit off of the left and top will be helpful.

kseniaC (ksenia) added a critique 5 months ago:

great shot!
i love the detail on the eyes!

snaps (Dana N) added a critique 4 months ago:

I would have included less of the stone. Perhaps a different angle might have eliminated some of it while keeping most of the frog?

Great details.

breaves (Brennan Greaves) added a critique 5 months ago:

really intense colors, but IMO that slant is too distracting

AnaGaztelu (Ana Gaztelu) added a critique 5 months ago:

La inclinación del horizonte es demasiado pronunciada para mí.

sfkp (Tamara) added a critique 5 months ago:

imo the diagonal horizon is kind a artistic, but I understand the opinions of Brennan and Ana. I like the red glow provided by the sun and the effect it has on the shilouettes of those five people. The red spot on the left shoe´s nose is distracting (do those spots or stripes provided by (sun)-lightning have a special name in photography or in english)? I would have cloned that spot away.

You could have used a reflection screen or just a peace of white paper to reflect the light on those shoes, they are a bit to dark imo. Editing the colours a bit in photoshop will maybe also do.

JBridges (Jim Bridges) added a critique 5 months ago:

I agree with Tamara: a hint of lighting on the shoes would help. Not much, but just a touch. (And the red flare of light on the shoe is a bit distracting.) But otherwise, it's a good shot. 'm kind of ambivalent about the angle.

Saludos.

Ana: I swear I did not notice the third flower :); thanks for pointing out and useful critique.

Jon: thanks a lot :)

boyd added a critique 5 months ago:

The colours and the composition work very well here with this subject. If I could want for anything it would be a touch more light evenly on the main flower, but that is probably nit-picking (true is, I would be very happy to get a shot like this as is). Good capture, soreks.

HuubL added a critique 5 months ago:

I like this one better. More conforming, I agree...
