Hi, thank you all so much for the great feedback on this shot.
I've been working a lot with b/w and trying to get the tones correctly done.
I'm going to post the colour version now!

I'm not sure. I think the flat tones add to the fact that this place is in such decrepid condition and can never be restored. I like it as it is.

i think the conversion is good. i do wish the white barn walls were a little whiter though. As everyone else has said, its tough with that sky!

Thank you! I shot this from a busy expressway (car stopped at the side of the road).
I'm pretty sure it was illegal.

Great shot!
I agree with Kerri and wonder if lowering the camera all the way to the floor might have helped?
Still a fave, though!

I was up on a hill when I took this shot, and to get lower, I would have had to of gone closer (and traipsed through 2 feet of snow)
:)

stalking the rowers again! (i guess this was taken over the summer eh, what with every other of your photos for the last two months having loads of snow/ice)

I love this. I don't know exactly why, but it reminds me of something old timey...like the Great Gatsby. Weird, huh? Cool shot.
Ana (Ana Cortez) said 10 months ago:
Hey, Pete. Yeah..stalking the rowers, indeed....
I mean..come on.

This is a "down" shot over our frozen river. I was about 20 feet up.
Looks like "Ben and Jerry's" to me!

'scuse me...could you please pass the salt? I know it's a bit far...maybe you could get one of those birds to fly it down this way?
No really, I love this. The streaks of light, that milky blur and the overall effect of being somewhere out-of-this-world.....
Well done.

Incredible shot, Ana.. but how did you managed to catch this one ???
Ana (Ana Cortez) said 11 months ago:
This little guy fell out of a tree in my yard. He had some family around, yelling at me from above, so I only took a few shots before leaving them to figure things out. He was very tiny...the size of a softball, I guess.
I was about 10 feet away, and used my 300mm..and a flash.

I love this one!! Such an unusual and intriguing image of a common scene. The tones and values in this are great. Homepage I hope!!

If you look really carefully, the shadows spell my name.

thank you for the comment!

Wow you must have starred at this for a long time to see that...
Ana (Ana Cortez) said 1 year ago:
actually, I posted it on my blog, and one of the folks that look regularly, noticed it.
It's even better if you inverse it, then the N is facing the right way!

I love how the footprints and shadows intertwine. Beautiful capture!
A nice idea, but I would have opened up the lens all the way to blur the background.
