I think you've done a good job of making the background clouds interesting without taking away from the three birds. I also like how the horizon blends between sky and water without a definite line, as if the sky and water roll up on each other. The composition is good too, with the off-center depiction of the birds. The middle bird is particularly interesting, given the angle of its wings. This photo would have been equally appropriate for the "three" topic.
