I agree with you it is not the best background. The shadow is what drew me into taking the picture. To me the leaf was acting as the canvas for the shadow. It just caught my eye. I am always looking around for something different. I value the comment. Thanks.

Ok, if using the leaf as the canvas how would it look if you zoomed in enough to still tell it was a leaf and enhance the shadow as more of the subject?

Unfortunately this image doesn't really have much impact to it. The leaf is centered against a rather dull background. So tough to give good advice on this, I think I would have walked by and never taken a picture. I see you've entered this in shadows so if you use the shadow as the subject, then you got one. :)
