very interesting photo, I like the colors of the photo, it's a little fuzzy though. Gives off a very mysterious feel. Very cool idea to post a "self portrait" but not let anyone know what you look like ;)

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 2 hours ago:

Well, this is certainly different!! Since you asked: it is a little soft overall and if I was going to crop something this close to symmetrical in a framing this tight I believe I would straighten it so that the hat and glasses are straighter and more symmetrical.

Thank you! Yes, the camera was held in my left hand and there were several attempts at this. My lunch break is only so long, and to get the desired effect I wanted, I did some slight blurring in photoshop as I was not able to achieve this 100% from just the camera. Is it chaeting a little? Perhaps, but I look at it as work in the darkroom to realize my original 'vision'.

MMeye (Martine) said 3 months ago:

Sorry Sharon, I cannot understand "chaeting" :(
But if you mean "disturbing", no, there is no problem at all with me. The result is just beautiful this way, so congratulations to you, and I really do not care if you had to use Photoshop to achieve it.
I've always regarded postprocessing as the final and personal touch that everyone can give to one's production, exactly like photographers did before in the darkroom.

bluechameleon (Sharon Wish) said 3 months ago:

Oh Martine, my apologies! That was a typo! What I meant to say was 'cheating'.

philippe (Philippe Reichert) said 17 days ago:

I agree 100%. The effect only becomes a problem when it's too heavy, or not justified. It works perfecly, here (and I like your other pictures, too...)

bluechameleon (Sharon Wish) said 17 days ago:

philippe, thanks so much! I do at times try to push things, but hopefully not too far :)
Cheers to you!

I always fight the urge to put things dead center like this. Good lighting and background texture.

Very strong graphic - nice composition, like the texture as well - great job! The pony-tail is a nice touch.

Best,
Jon

sfkp (Tamara) said 1 month ago:

Thanks Hampshire and Jon!

I made this one yesterday evening when the sun was shining very brightly into my livingroom. The wall is actually white! Those square area's on the right are reflections of photo frames.

Wow! The colours almost seems surrealistic. Did you pp it to get those colours? If you did, you did very well. But I don't think it fits in the topic. It isn't a portrait at all, you even have to look twice before seeing the human figure. I think 'the photographer' would be a better choice.

Another suggestion I have: I think it would add something extra if you were sitting down at the edge with your legs just straight ahead you (but maybe you hadn't enough time to do that... before the picture was taken with the self-exposure).

matiliberson added a critique 2 months ago:

I like the colors and the composition, but I think is a steady picture. Nice geometry of the blue, black and white

lasiate added a critique 2 months ago:

des couleurs années 50 , plus proche d'une abstraction que d'un portrait

Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 1 month ago:

This is a wonderful subject as a cityscape and has great potential for a self-portrait. I just don't think this composition really works for either. As a cityscape/landscape you are distracting in the scene. The graphic nature of this and the surreal feel would make it a great shot for that genre if you were not there. For a self-portrait, you are there, but your sorta aren't too. Not sure all this makes sense.

Did you shoot this as a straight cityscape??
