I've been curious about this from when I first saw it. The birds are obviously on wires, is some kind of sculpture?? Would love to know the story.

Would love to know the "making of" me as well! By the way great shot!

That is such an interesting photo. It looks like multiple strings of pearls but how you made them go from the white to grey-ish to black is what is stumping me.

This looks like a super cool place, but I feel like I'm missing so much of what is really there.
It seems either closely cropped, or framed too narrowly.
Afoklala (Jan Willem van Dormolen) said 1 year ago:
Thanks for the comment. In this case, I was trying to focus on the rhythm, not on the real objects. I deliberately cropped out everything that would disturb that. Whether I succeeded, is another matter.

A great see and well taken. Needs a crop: the top horizontal beam needs to go.
Afoklala (Jan Willem van Dormolen) said 1 year ago:
Thanks for the compliment. Not sure about the crop though, will think about it.

I didn't notice the green until it was mentioned. Now that I notice it I really like it. It brings out abstract to the repetition. Good job!

Mike, I have entered a similar shot to this in "Fill the Frame". Thanks for the heads up!
Thanks for the comments everyone. I enjoyed shooting these quaint boats, pretty unique to Britain.
sanders (Marc Sanders) added a critique 1 year ago:
I too like the overall pattern and yet the boats are still recognizable. Makes me switch back and forth from focus on the patterns to focus on the indivdual boats. MCS

I also think that this is a very strong image, mooch. I also like the way that the chain across the centre of the frame adds interest and gives your eye something to follow from boat to boat to... Well done.

I love the lines in this photograph, and i do also like the patches of green peeking through the boats on the upper right. i wouldn't change a thing. nice shot.

No entiendo por qué está en este tema. En la propia naturaleza del objeto que está en la mano existe una repetición pero con ese tamaño y todo lo que aparece a su alrededor no me encaja en ese grupo de fotos.
Saludos

The repetition is in the fibonacci number sequence found in the pine cone. The number of scales on the cone are repetitious.
Thanks for the comment.
lightningPaul (Paul) added a critique 1 year ago:
Your idea about repetition is pretty good. But the image does not show that at all.
When looking at the picture I see a blurred hand holding a little pine cone with a green background. No clear indication of repetition. The cone (= your main subject) is only filling a few percent of the image.
A real close up of the pine cone was perhaps much better.

Shot in Rotterdam. It's a small part of a big white building in a place called Kop van Zuid. I have captured quiet a few buildings in this city during a weekend stay.
