Stunning...powerful... I love it in B&W. I agree that it does show the wild cat inside a domestic. beautiful

How did you make the cat sit still and not sniff at the lens or something? Great shot.

So awesome...if I had to make a critique I'd crop the pen out at the top. Love it though!

such a fun photo!! I can't really add any critique, great job!

I like the projection of a human trait onto an animal. It's cute

Ugh, cats!! Cute, the pen is a bit distracting, but I guess this wasn't posed...

Thanks for all the comments.
couldn't make it stronger without your comments!
I knew it was a good image, just had to find the right balance!

I agree that this is better, I still wish you had burned the face a bit more. Do you use dodge and/or burn brushes or perhaps layer masks?
narnold (Noah Arnold) added a critique 1 month ago:
love the emotion this photo communicates!! Excellent job!

Beamer,
A burn on the face may lift this a bit.
What i had done.
Run through a noise removal script.
Set the noise removal to be as high as possible without loosing details.
I then duplicated the layer and ran a bw film simulation script.
Adjusted contrast and curve on the BW layer.
I then set it to overlay with a value of about 50% or so.
Straightened the verticals, cropped and posted.
So yes i probably could burn a bit to add some emphasis.

Yeah the white balance is a bit off.
Shot in raw and then adjusted it but there are no white points that don't cause the color to wash out when i set them.
I will look at the curve and see if the values cannot be adjusted!
The crop is a good idea as i was unsure on how to show this in the light i wanted.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi there Mike;
I like the tender expression on the puppy's eyes, specially since it's behind that wooden fence. However, I found some issues suitable to be fixed easily...
-This image was taken under bad light conditions to get everything well exposed, so you have a problem with the (cluttered) background. It catches much eye so you'd better get rid of it either darkening it, cropping it out or even cloning it out.
-It looks this picture has been taken with a high ISO setting apparently for no reason. Consequently, noise is noticeable and detracts sharpness on the puppy. I would make some selective levels adjustments to reinforce the main subject presence. It would give it a bit of sharpness as well.
-IMHO, the vertical perspective should be corrected (just a few degrees) in order to align the tilted fence.
Just my two cents :)
All the best,
David

Good suggestion on the background!
High iso? You have a good eye as it was at 800 and i forgot to set it lower. (Was taking infant pictures indoors)
All of the suggestions are valid. I may rework this one when i get some time.

Definitely worth a few more minutes of your time - this could be a classic!

What a sweet shot. I love the light, and how some of the grass sparkles. I wonder what the dog is thinking about. :-)

I also agree with Tamara that this is a very strong shot and your use of focus and framing works very well. I also like that you have used high key exposure to very good effect. Well done.
