the crop works well. Not sure about the desaturation, but the crop really helps the shot.

Id crop two inches off the side and 1 inch off the bottom. Love the green color contrast.

I really like the contrast of color in this photo, I think it would've been interesting to have a closer shot of the bird on top of the sign! Good job!

As others have said, the potential is there in your scene/subject, but: the focus is off and the composition lacks imagination. I agree with Noah that the most interesting part of this scene that you could have explored is the bird and the sign.

Amy, I also agree with the comments above. The green is so very interesting with the bird I am wondering how this would look as a subject for selective saturation of a b&w conversion.
