i don't agree i like the emotion on the face
sfkp (Tamara) added a critique 3 months ago:
Well, imo the simulated pose is not bothering. Only thing that's a bit pity is the under-exposure of her face. But maybe it's just my taste. I also like the dress and hair who are almost becomes one with the background. Beatiful framing.
stilfoto (Stefan Nielsen) added a critique 1 month ago:
I think the pose and facial expression is ok here - but it seems to me like the picture should be rotated a bit clockwise.
And I would have liked a bit more light on her face as well...

He is amazed at everything. This is his first climb, I bet he cant wait to do so much more. Very nicely captured.
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) added a critique 2 months ago:
Very nice capture Jon, I love the expression and the tension too!! The composition feels a bit heavy on the right. This is probably a tough situation for perfect framing, but would be better to have more room along the eyeline and less behind the head.
HuubL added a critique 2 months ago:
Excellent capture indeed. The tension in the boys face is great. Decisive moment!

My (admittedly simplified) view of a Greek island at noontime:
Glaring sun, blue sky, white houses with windows shut, the ocean, wavering furnace-like heat… a few hapless tourists and alley dogs being the only creatures which wander around outside at this time of the day… not a soul to be seen as far as the locals are concerned… regular life will resume after sunset!
Beamer (Clyde Beamer) said 1 month ago:
Go back, shoot the same shot by full moon, bet it would rock!!
nightfire said 1 month ago:
Thanks Clyde, haven't thought of that, but the light of the full moon shining on the white buildings at night might indeed produce some dramatic effects!

If you are near any scene like this tonight or tomorrow night, give it a try!!

I love this photograph a lot. I thing that you use an "orton effect" and that make a very good feel in this. Bravo ;)
bluechameleon (Sharon Wish) said 3 months ago:
Thanks very much Eric. Yes, I did use a blurred effect in post processing, but it was helpful that there was already movement in the shot :)
Cheers!
juanantonio (J.A. Pellicer) said 3 months ago:
Coincido con Eric, pero creo que ademas del tratamiento empleado y el movimiento, juega a favor de la composición el angulo de toma. Creo que usted a sabido utilizar los elementos para conseguir una muy buena composición a mi manera de entender. Enhorabuena y saludos.

Beautiful portrait, I love the colours. Do wish there was a bit more light in the eyes is all. Nice work.
jvgphoto (jon van gilder) said 3 months ago:
Tammy, thanks for your thoughts - much appreciated - was an overcast afternoon with great light, but it was a spur of the moment session away from the studio, and I didn't have an umbrella to throw just a little light into the eyes! - jon

I wouldn't have noticed any of the mensioned "problems", if they were not mensioned. They're right, but anyway this is a great portrait.
JimiThing (Jim Machajewski) added a critique 2 months ago:
Along with the dark eyes comment, I think that the face in general is too dark and a bit soft. It seems that the focus was on the wall behind and not the girl.

cute picture, with lots of energy...captures the attitude of kids very well...greatjob!
Neuner added a critique 3 months ago:
I think this could have been exceptional if the shot was dropped down some so there isn't as much white space up above, you didn't have the shadows behind them and it was exposed so that the white space was close to being blown out. I really like the expressions and the boy on the right moved forward from the others and out front.
BeppeRdam (Giuseppe Moscarda) added a critique 3 months ago:
I like the composition but maybe with more continuos shoting you could have got even more interesting faces expressions.
james_littlefox added a critique 1 month ago:
agree with BepperRdam, consecutive capture could result in even better face expressions.

Is this in Arches National Park? Great image, a tad (just a tad) underexposed perhaps? Everything else is spot on.

The pose and the emotions on face of the model is too simulated!
