Hi Sabine,
Thanks for your comments. What you are seeing in the background is not rain, it is star trails. This is around a 17 minute exposure.

I really like this pic. the long exposure give movement to the composition trough the stars trail. a great shot !

classic long exposure. a great shot. maybe I'd have liked to see a bit more contrast in the structure of the lighthouse - but it's a beautiful image, and perfect in black and white.

You're quite the task master SUBJEKTIV. If this required a 17 minute exposure, he did good just to get the lighthouse in focus. I think this shot is wonderful, especially given my experience trying to photograph something similar.

Hi, thanks every one for your comments and support!
I would have to agree with Subjectiv about increasing the contrast a bit, but it was quite difficult. I'm not sure it was really possible though.
Kadenajack, yes focus was a problem, but I just stopped it down and focused just off infinity...
this was taken just before moonrise, hence the need for the increased exposure.

Great job, Jason!
I wonder why the b/w, though. Maybe because of the textures in the lighthouse?

Hi Phil,
I had two cameras with me that night, one color, and one black and white (film). So, it was really just the luck of the draw I guess that this one ended up black and white...
Thanks for your comments!

Very nice. I wonder if we can do a 17 min exposure with out haveing any amp glow problems and noise. Excellent shot.

I love this photo, the stars look awesome! The lighthouse is very sharp and I cant really find anything to complain about.

Great composition and the b/w works perfectly here

This is such a beautiful lighthouse and your capture of it is great. The rain looks very interesting, because of the long time. I think, this is a great job.
