ahhh...very simple and beautiful. I'm adding this to my favourite list. Did you post process with any filters or is that sky naturally pinkish and purplish?
rogerramjet said 1 year ago:
Naturally, this had a light blue tinge to it as it was well past sunset and there was little colour left in the sky (approx 30sec exposure). So yes, I did play about with some colour variations in photoshop and ended up using this version.

What I mean is, that the contrast on those lights seems a little too strong.

Just a cool pic to look at......it would look good in a black frame with white matting on a white wall.

thanks for all the nice comments :P
i remember doing hardly any editing (maybe contrast and of course b&w convert) so the lights are just how the photo naturally came out, i used a wicked long exposure so i think thats why they ended up looking so overexposed/ball shaped.
i really like night photography :) new topic? :P

Beautifull photo. Gives a real sense of motion. I like it a lot in B/W.

Thanks George,
I really wish the one on WS would feature, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen...
Thanks everyone for their comments.
agme (Dmitry Antipov) added a critique 1 year ago:
not for the right topic i guess
there's no any motion to be 'underlined' by the long exposure

I like the almost daylight colours to the front of the image, whereas the background clearly shows that it's dark outside. The green gives some alien (outerworldly) feel to it.

Really nice colors...do you mind sharing how you executed this one?
SeekingFocus (Jason Langley) said 10 months ago:
Hi Rachel,
Gladly! This was actually the VERY FIRST digital shot I took- way back in January (2007) when I got my 5D in the mail... I was on the way back from the post office dying to try it out and passed by this cement plant.
I want back and checked the EXIF for you- looks like this was 60 seconds @ f/22, ISO 800. Camera was on a tripod, with shutter release.
The lighting (colors) was just the ambient light which was present at the moment. The green was from a single bulb under the tower, which cast the eerie glow across the scene- really adds a lot in my opinion.
Thanks for the comment, hope that answers your question.

Where's the edit button? :/
MMeye said 11 months ago:
I'm afraid there's no possibility to edit.. but don't be sorry, no problem at all :)
By the way, I noticed that there are much more men than women being photographers ;-)

Thanks Martine! I'm totally happy that this one made it to the front page. (Two of my recent photos actually) Seems like this is a good day. :)
I just came back home from a nightly photo trip. It's a rainy night again... :)
Btw., Do you have a photoblog or Flickr account or something like that?

Fantastic!! Being behind the performer looking out towards the crowd, is a different perspective than one would normally see. I love the colors; and swirling of the fire.

it's a 30 seconds exposure (f9 i think) with a model on the bike .. and a guy had a maglight and made the outline with it toward the camera. it's a very simple trick
