Nice, my suggestion, I think it works, maybe a little vignette or falloff around the edges?? Have you tried out Nik Software's Silver FX Pro plugin, it's a great tool for converting digital to B&W. They have a 15 day free trial. They have a stand alone version and a PS plugin.
