I knew as soon as I posted this that I should have eliminated the post on the far right!

B&W was a perfect choice for this shot (especially if it's the nasty churned up ocean brown). I think it would it would have worked better with drawing the eye out to sea if it was more symmetrical, with pier in the center.

love the black and white! agree symetrical might be more powerful, but great image!

Beautiful B&W as I like them. A photograph of alive street, beautiful clearness with 1/13s, did you use a foot?
Cheer still and Geetings.
MMeye (Martine) said 1 year ago:
Thank you very much Eric.
No, I did not use a tripod for this one. I have a VR lens (which we called in French "Stabilisé"), and it often enables me to try shots even with a low light, like here (but I had to make it at 500 iso !..)
aloha_photo (Jeff Sisemoore) said 1 year ago:
The tones in this image are quite rich, especially the darker ones. Nicely done.
MMeye (Martine) said 1 year ago:
Thank you, Jeff. B&W is rather new for me, I began to get really interested in about one year ago. I still spend a lot of time on each temptation, so your comment is encouraging and appreciated.

Thank you for your comments and critiques. I guess I see more in the photo because I was there. This wasn't actually my subject that night, I was photographing a building behind me. This is my husband waiting near by for me to finish up. He was reading his electronic book and I thought it was cool how his face was slightly lit up. I also liked the row of cars and felt it led you deeper into the photo, I suppose it would have been better if there had been someone walking at the other end or a cat or something there of interest. I felt the over all feeling of this photo was mysterious, if he had been lit up any more then he wouldn't have been mysterious. Then again, maybe he's brighter on my screen than on others. Anyway, I appreciate your comments, thank you. :-)

I am, too, drawn to the car. Your husband seems to jump out from the shadows. The light you mention is not very clear to me, I only noticed it after you mentioned it. Perhaps that's because the light of the street light is so strong.
PhotoDaniels (Stephanie Daniels) added a critique 1 year ago:
LoL! Tell your husband I'm sorry! I thought he was picking out which car he wanted! Oh that left me tickled! I see what you were going for but it got so mysterious I thought he was a thief! He he!
Damo (Damo) added a critique 1 year ago:
I think you should tout this to the council, for car crime posters, its excellent ! :)
TammyLynn (Tammy) said 1 year ago:
LoL, thanks Damo. :-D
HaHa @ PhotoDaniels! I'll be sure to tell him!
Thanks for all your comments guys, really appreciated. :-)

Espectacular. Enhorabuena. Saludos.

I like much the prospect given. Damage for this perturbing light in the first-plan. Like juantonio, the character gives the geometry of the staircase. Your B&W is strong, as I like them. Greetings.

As often, I like your very contrasted B&W, which emphasizes the matter photographed. Your framing is interesting and is well calculated, in any case for the setting in front of these shades surealists. At the next time.

I think I meant to say "classic." Heh... either way, I like it.
nice scene!could get a bit harder contrast.subject deserves a symmetric composition.
