Ahh! My favorite colour: purple! Really great DOF. Those drups of water gives it an extra... I don't know... something. I love the detail of the pistils.

overall focus is too soft for this type of shot, in my opinion.

How you get such colors?
+ you can easely delete a peace of leave from the left of the photo!

Mikhail, I love colour mate. This one is pretty much straight out of the cameras as I remember. I use Nikon CaptureNX to tweak the colours a bit but for the most part they are as captured.

Great Detail. What are you using? I can't seem to get a macro shot that tight with what I have right now.

@CEG: this was shot using a Nikkor 105mm micro. I was contemplating getting the Tamron 90mm instead of this lens for quite some time, but in the end I went with the Nikkor. Mainly because my budget could stretch that far and the front element doesn't extend, which the Tamron does.

I'd try putting the flower more off center. Get the yellow over to the left edge so the DOF shows better. Otherwise nice image.

The best way is to rephoto this flower. Make an interesting photo. Use language of light and shadows. Now flower is flatten. Try other composition and focused on center of the flower!

misu has already said most of it. I would say try another angle, focus on the center and mayby go up in aperture.
