Very nice picture, but could be a little more sharp. The white balance is also on the blue side. Captured a nice moment though.

I agree with all that Apurva said. Also, the composition is a little cluttered and loose. You could crop this down at the top so the top of frame is just above the dogs head and below the bright part of the tree trunk in the background. This would focus the eye more on the main subject. As well as correcting the color balance a little, you need to boost the tonal range a little in curves.

Thanks for the comments.
Yeah the white balance is a bit off.
Shot in raw and then adjusted it but there are no white points that don't cause the color to wash out when i set them.
I will look at the curve and see if the values cannot be adjusted!

The crop is a good idea as i was unsure on how to show this in the light i wanted.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi there Mike;

I like the tender expression on the puppy's eyes, specially since it's behind that wooden fence. However, I found some issues suitable to be fixed easily...

-This image was taken under bad light conditions to get everything well exposed, so you have a problem with the (cluttered) background. It catches much eye so you'd better get rid of it either darkening it, cropping it out or even cloning it out.

-It looks this picture has been taken with a high ISO setting apparently for no reason. Consequently, noise is noticeable and detracts sharpness on the puppy. I would make some selective levels adjustments to reinforce the main subject presence. It would give it a bit of sharpness as well.

-IMHO, the vertical perspective should be corrected (just a few degrees) in order to align the tilted fence.

Just my two cents :)

All the best,

David

Good suggestion on the background!

High iso? You have a good eye as it was at 800 and i forgot to set it lower. (Was taking infant pictures indoors)

All of the suggestions are valid. I may rework this one when i get some time.

Mike,

Definitely worth a few more minutes of your time - this could be a classic!

Best,
Jon

un léger manque de contraste pour cette jolie scène
