Nice DOF. To hold the interest solely on the flower, I would have cropped the image on the left and on the right, I think this is perfect for a square image. I don't agree using a open flower archieves a better picture, this is exciting (like you know there's something going to happen but you don't know exactly what it is... sorry but I have to be creative with language 'cause it's not my best talent :)

No me encaja bien la flor con el fondo y lo que parecen ser hojas me distraen mucho. El color de la flor me encanta.

i think i like the color but the black and white has unique qualities.

Thats a beautiful shape you have captured Noah. If the whole of the flower was sharp and a squarer crop with the bg more out of focus might do the trick. Just my two cents :)

Noah,
Such a good effort - I agree with what's been stated above - keep 'em coming!
Cheers,
Jon

Hey Noah, beautiful red. This composition might work better on a flower that was a bit more open. Here it doesn't hold strong interest/impact for me. The tonal range of the image is a bit flat overall and than allows the background with the leaves to be distracting, also reducing impact. Just one hillbilly's opinion.
