Congrats on ur feature ashish, I really like this image, - seems like this man is in the middle of his own Univers - fantastic portrait and great work !!

jsmanseau said 1 year ago:

All the colors are great. Where was this taken?

ashish (Photo Shooter) said 1 year ago:

Thanks KidJim!

@jsmanseau: This was shot in Chinatown (Singapore).

kyla (Kyla) added a critique 1 year ago:

I would have liked to see this cropped where the wall ends as the trees distract from this image. Like the shadow on the wall and the stance of the person. I would love it if we could just see a little of his face but perhaps that adds to the intrigue.

Eyeseethings added a critique 1 year ago:

I think a crop at the end of wall would suite it better also . Just needs a little light around figure as hard to distguinish shad . Very well exposed though

jsmanseau added a critique 1 year ago:

I agree with both of the comments before me about the cropping, and other than that I think its a great shot!

Good concept, however I'm a bit distracted with the background. My eye is drawn away from the hand with the sphere and to the right side of the photo.

This is not big, this is hudge. Smile. Very good shot of - I think so ... - New York.

jsmanseau said 1 year ago:

Great shot, I would like to see it with a little less sky and more city, but other than that, its great.

Beautiful photo. I love the dark clouds with the sun peaking thru and the sun's rays...

Literally half the picture is bathed in light and the other isn't!

Nice work. Well Done!

I am surprised this took so long to be featured - it is a great shot.

forgingahead (Bob Foss) said 1 year ago:

Beautiful shot Kim! There are two pictures here and my eye is bit confused. I think the more powerful one is the church (?) on the hill (as opposed to the valley beyond). Isolating that element would improve the composition (IMHO) and eliminate the intrusive OOF tree on the left, which does not really add anything to this picture.

beckn32 (Kim Norton) said 1 year ago:

That's funny you say that Bob, because I debated on which version to upload. I have one cropped version with just the building (I think it might be a monistary). I couldn't decide which one to put and thougt I liked the feel of the valley below gave it a little more depth. But, I hate that tree. I guess I should have croped it out. Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it.

Laurie (Laurie) added a critique 1 year ago:

This is interesting. The way the light falls on the Monastery is really awesome. But also the light in the valley as well.

Eyeseethings added a critique 1 year ago:

The light on the building is great . I would deffo lose the tree on the left also try a BW with high contrast. Great shot

ericfish added a critique 1 year ago:

I prefer crop out the tree and use high contrast. I like the light on the building, too ^^

doilyboy (Martin Grey Gottlieb) added a critique 1 year ago:

The light is great, but for me, somehow the fence post on the right and cable clutter the frame as opposed to helping it.

lbstone (Brandon Stone) added a critique 1 year ago:

I like this a lot... I'd like to see the bottom part a little lighter just so that the highlight of the sun pops a little more.

The altitude... clouds and mountains are great.

reddave (David Parrish) added a critique 1 year ago:

Great shot but I think the clutter is a bit distracting. 3 steps forward and a bit to the right would have been beautiful

eli (Elijah Woolery) added a critique 1 year ago:

This really captures some nice sunset tones, but I'd have to agree that the clutter in the foreground is distracting, and keeps it from really fitting the theme.

Eyeseethings added a critique 1 year ago:

The sunset and mountains are so stunning that no foreground is really needed . Nice capture on horizon though !

uncommondepth (Roberta Murray) said 1 year ago:

Philippe, nice lines from the shadows, and warm lighting. I'm not crazy about the off kilter angle, but that's a personal thing.

philippe (Philippe Reichert) said 1 year ago:

Thanks, Roberta, this is the kind of critique I can handle :O)))
Actually, I think there's something missing, here. I would have loved someone in a red outfit showing at a window...

forgingahead (Bob Foss) said 1 year ago:

Well Philippe, that's why we have PhotoShop, isn't it? ;-)

philippe (Philippe Reichert) said 1 year ago:

Ah! That's an interesting -and recurrent- topic, Bob.
I wouldn't use PS here (like I did for the "ghost" picture).
