I like the coloring on this one a lot.
manickavelu (velu) added a critique 1 year ago:
nice tone. i would've liked the background to be more out of focus (wider aperture?)
inophoto (Jamie Adams) added a critique 1 year ago:
I dunno. The theme description says: '..shots that really bring out the unique character of the subject'. I'm sure he's got a cracking smile amd it might have helped the image jump to life.
For me, the focus of the image is on his eyes. The flash has darkened these and this lessens the appeal of the shot. A portrait in natural light - near a window perhaps would really do him justice.

Thank you all for this comments. I'm new in digital photography, but I'm trying to do my best. I'll remember all your critiques to make better photo next time.

very nice-you have captured this perfectly-nice composition!
cheguillaume (Pierre-Yves cheguillaume) added a critique 1 year ago:
Nice but maybe I'll have cropped the top right of the picture.
manickavelu (velu) added a critique 1 year ago:
nice skin tones. captured the emotion quite well.
i would either crop it a little on the right like cheguillaume suggested, or would add more to the right so that it doesn't look like it has been cut at the elbow.
i would also try not to have the whiteout at the top right of the image on the green door.

Nice job Leisa. Congratulations on the feature. I love that little bug lost in all that green.
Deja (Micke Jakobsson) said 1 year ago:

Beautiful colors, great job.
Not sure about the black bars, a bit distracting.

I really like this shot, but I wish there was something other than a car outside the window. I think technically it's very well done, though the subject matter leave a lot to be desired.
beckn32 (Kim Norton) said 1 year ago:
This is great. It fits the theme very well and I love that you can see the man stepping into the frame. At first I didn't notice him, but it's a plus that I looked at this again and found something new to look at.

I was hoping I would see it here also. I love this one!
(azt a képedet nem akarod áthozni az industrialos témába, amit a WS-en az ugly beautiful témába raktál be? az is nagyon bejött nekem :)
pfeel (Phil Verges) said 1 year ago:
I like it as well. To me, what makes this image work is the tension between the old (window and iron) and the new (SUV).

Well I guess that you'll just have to expand your imagination a tad and imagine these two being the only two people on about a 2km long beach - which is the case here.
Sorry you could not infer that.
Jens (Jens Hoffmann) said 1 year ago:
Finally it fits well...especially with the high contrasts....it is fading into nothing and I like this feeling....
psychodudu (Andrew Parker) said 1 year ago:
You don't need to expand your imagination to know what solitude means, or are you redefining for us what alone means? You can't be alone if you're holding hands with someone...lol!
codystanley (Cody Stanley) said 1 year ago:
Actually, pschodudu, you are the one redefining the word: restricting it to a single meaning, when it has several. It could mean remotenss from habitation or a place unfrequented. So yes the TWO are walking in the solitude of the beach.
That said, I don't think this image quite conveys that sense of the word enough, though as Jens says, the fading to nothing helps.
ArneG (Arne Gulstene) said 1 year ago:
@psychodudu
Sounds like you are the one using the word "Alone" in place of solitude. As an example ... My wife and I spent a fabulous weekend together in solitude...

i'm amazed, very effective capture, even the burn-out has its role. how is it not featured?!
AngryBuddha (Sean Bailey) said 1 year ago:
What a gorgeous shot!
duncmc (Duncan McMillan) said 1 year ago:
A great image. Perhaps if the figures were further to the left it would benefit the composition, but that's just me finding fault 'cause I'm jealous ;-)
manickavelu (velu) said 1 year ago:
i think the figures being in the middle adds to the symmetry!
nice shot!

A tricky one to critique. The sky has some nice cloud texture and is a smashing colour, as is the sea. But as a whole the image doesn't really have an impact on me.
Cropping out most of the sand, except for the thinnest sliver to cover the bottom of the image, definitely improves the composition. And if only the figure was wearing a bright red or yellow tee shirt.
I can't really fault this photo, I just can't find much to say about it that is positive. Sorry.
duncmc (Duncan McMillan) added a critique 1 year ago:
Oh, I should have said that I do think is fits the topic nicely. So that's something good then ;-)
Paulforrester (Paul Forrester) added a critique 1 year ago:
i like this photo-well done
dcrphotography (Daniel) added a critique 1 year ago:
I think some cropping both from the top and the bottom will make a stronger image.

I'm not able to see much "light" in this image... It feels mostly like shadows here, so I'm not sure how relevant this is to the topic.
I do like the simple minimalist pattern, though. Makes me keen to guess what this is.
Paulforrester (Paul Forrester) said 1 year ago:
thank you-i did darken the photo. the shadows are coming from buddhist lamps hanging above
sbuzz (Samarth Bhasin) added a critique 1 year ago:
its a bit dark and a bit muddy...i think u can rewsolve both issues using Shaodw/Highlight in Photoshop.

great compo, i like the mood in this picture a lot. i like that we don't see much of the little girl. i feel like i'm in that same bus that she is in.
derLitograph (Manuel Waldhans) said 1 year ago:
@xzroxyzx: I WAS in the same bus ;-)
Great toning and good exposure ,
